Pre-Collision Warning Option

Hello,

I'm looking at purchasing a 2017 MKZ Hybrid Reserve. Is there a way to tell if the car has the pre-collision option?

Thank you for any assistance.

Hi Mike. In addition to the information Spaceman provided: If you post the VIN of the MKZ you are looking to purchase, I can pull up the "As-Built" information for you.

EDIT - Scott is correct below. According to the 2017 MKZ Order Guide, Pre-Collision was optional, as part of the Technology Package on the Reserve model.

You can also download the 2017 MKZ Order Guide from the Blue Oval Forums, if you are interested: https://blueovalforums.com/forums/index.php?/files/file/333-2017-lincoln-mkz-order-guide/

Good luck.

I believe that the pre-collision alert system is part of the technology package.

This from the 2017 brochure:

Technology Package: Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop-and-Go, Pre-Collision Assist
with Pedestrian Detection
, Enhanced Active Park Assist System, Lane-Keeping System
with Driver Alert System, Forward Sensing System, rain-sensing windshield wipers
and windshield wiper de-icer (windshield wiper de-icer not available on MKZ Hybrid)

The easiest way is to get a copy of the dealer sticker and look on the left to see the technology package listed under Options. Another way is is to look for a good picture of the lower left hand side of the steering wheel. The inner button shows two lines with different arrows on each line. One shows arrows pointing in for closer and the other shows arrows pointing out for further. That shows a radar module is installed in the front of the vehicle. But, that really shows the vehicle is equipped with adaptive cruise control. On a 2017 that also means the vehicle has the technology package.

If you can get the vehicle to start, as you press the start button, look straight ahead and down. You should see the red bar on the windshield. This is a test feature of the vehicle.

The easiest way to tell if the car has the Technology Package, is to simply look at the dash.

In Picture #1, the two lower buttons along the right side of the display will be present,  so that vehicle does have the Technology Package.

In Picture #2, those buttons are not there, so that vehicle is not equipped with the Technology Package.

I'm sure the OP has fond out... but if they have not, look for the bar of LED lights on the dash... when I test drobve, I thought it was the HUD, but it's the lights that light up when the pre collision warns you.

I hate that thing...

Hi Multitask. Are you aware you can turn it off in the Driver Information Center Settings?

Good luck.

...or adjust the sensitivity.  I love when the car admonishes itself.  Occasionally, it'll sound off when the stop-and-go feature is engaged and it gets too close to the car in front.  I'll say to it," Hey, you're driving."  Makes my wife laugh every time.?

Yea, I'd rather adjust the sensitivity of it... someone is turning and I'm still 1-2 cars from it and because I'm not breaking, it alerts me...

or nowadays I have to drive up to a drive up window to get food, and the surround sensors are bugging, so I turn them off when I go in... sheesh...  ?
