Driverside Door Rattle

I've recently noticed what can only be described as a rattle in my driver's side door while at highway speeds.  Yesterday, I also noticed a (related?) rattle when I closed the door exiting the car.  My guess is they're related.  I've looked but haven't found much useful information on the web.  Any insights would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Rebe-J, and welcome to the Lincoln MKZ Forum. Noises can be extremely difficult to diagnose over the Internet. Can you tell if it is coming from the window frame area or somewhere in/on the door panel? From the top, bottom, middle, front or back area of the door?

Is your 2017 MKZ still within the 4 year/50,000 mile Bumper to Bumper Warranty? If yes, I would recommend making a service appointment to have the problem properly diagnosed and corrected.

Oh...and what may seem like a silly question: Do you have a water bottle or any other items in the drivers door storage pockets? Check closely, and if yes, remove and see if the rattle disappears.

Let us know how you make out and good luck.

I have been experiencing some kind of a rattle when closing the door upon exiting.  I haven't investigated it fully but I will do so, sometime when the weather is milder, since I'm also planning to install sound deadener on all doors.

I have a similar problem and I think I have pinpointed the problem to the low rocker beneath the door. The long plastic body panel that runs from front wheel well to rear wheel well. I am currently trying to devise a way to hold it in place, the plastic pins that are supposed to do so are so cheap and weak they don’t do anything. Let me know if this helps!
