? Well, the MKZh got traded in yesterday.

Finally found an small SUV that fit my needs and we made a deal.

Not everything I wanted but pretty damn close..

Could not wait any longer for the Hybrid Corsair and the Aviator hybrid was out of my league.

I must say it has been fun on this forum, I might pop my head in from time to time.

Oh BTW I forgot to turn in my original Lincoln carpeted mats for the MKZ (Black) with the trade.

They were never in the car as I always used Weathertechs so if anyone is interested in them, let me know. $50 + ship for all 4 pieces

ROLL TIDE!

I'll look you up when I'm heading thru Palm Coast.

Oh, sorry to see you go. It's been a pleasure "knowing" you.  Good luck with the new car. A friend of mine just one after her MKC was totaled by someone that ran a stop sign.  Corsair was out of her price range.

You can check in from time to time anyway.

You didn't want another hybrid?

I did but here in Florida Hybrid SUVs are almost non-existent from all manufacturers.

They claim the market isn't here and justify it by saying it is because they are worth more in states that have income tax rebates for fuel efficient vehicles. What a crock

Meanwhile there are plenty of Hybrid sedans and other passenger car models. Makes no sense to me.

I also did an evaluation of additional costs due to the MKZ being a hybrid. I did this because I had just put on my 4th set of tires Christmas eve, and that was at 83K miles so the [total] savings are not all they are cracked up to be. That and all the trips to dealer for warranty repairs convinced me to change my thoughts about hybrids.

I went looking then for a fuel efficient 4 cyl small SUV that had all the bells and whistles (because I was now spoiled). After much shopping around (yes I was color picky too) I ended up having to drive 120 miles yesterday to get exactly what I wanted (well almost), made a good deal and got a good trade in value too for the MKZ, so overall I am happy with it. Dealer will pickup the car to install the trailer hitch and roof crossbars when they come in and then deliver it back to me as they are across the state in Gainsville.

No need for a bike rack.  There's plenty of room in the trunk.

For one maybe two but when I need to transport four there is no way, thus the need for the rear trailer type bike rack.

Once I get all the parts, I'll post a picture of it all together.

I'm fairly new here... but sad to see you go. There isn't that much activity in the forum, as say the "Mustang" forums I also visit, so we'll miss your contributions.

On a side note, that's nice house! My parents live in Florida (Cape Coral) and I visit them twice a year. Your place reminds me of that area. I'm currently stuck in N.E. Ohio under snow and salt and have to keep reminding myself that I'm saving for early retirement also in FL.

The forum has decent traffic considering it specializes on one vehicle and found the information great.

Thanks for the compliment. Palm Coast is on the other side of the state between Daytona Beach and St Augustine. We built the house back in 2002 in anticipation of it one day it would be our retirement home. We made that come true in May 2010 retiring from Long Island NY. Sorry for the lousy weather you guys are having but we have a chill right now too..... But no snow and we don't miss it.

Good luck with your new hyundai! I'm hoping that by 2021 and a half the Ford Escape Hybrid will be my choice since most less savvy buyers will be flocking to the plug-in Escape, causing less demand for the Hybrid and me saving more $$$$!  ?

Thank you,

So far so good, they finally got the tow hitch on  and I'm adjusting things to accommodate the bike rack. I do owe a promised picture here of that set up. They did install the roof crossbar backwards which gave a howling noise while driving but that has been corrected. Other then that I have not had a single issue.

The MKZ was the first hybrid I owned and I was absolutely thrilled with the milage and smoothness of the operation. I am not a jack rabbit type driver and had my cars maintenance schedule followed so there was never an issue due to lack of maintenance.

I truly found that hybrids ate more tires. This is just a fact of life and at above 80,000 miles I was having my 4th set of tires being installed on the car before I traded it in. The number of "warranty" repairs also seemed higher then any other car I ever owned (except for my 2013 MKZ 2.0T which ended up being a subject in a lemon law claim but that is another story, if you care to read about it, It is within this older thread).

The Escape appeared to be a little too small for what I needed and I considered an Edge but the salesman and I never connected and I was put off by him. He just wanted to sell what was in stock and on the lot and never understood my needs and wants.

Well, the waterfront concert season for you now is a lot longer than back a Jones Beach, enjoy! ;)

I remember those concerts at Jones Beach well, lived in Levittown and then North Bellmore for most of my adult life.

Plenty of concert opportunities here, St Augustine, Palm Coast, Flagler Beach, Daytona Beach are the closer ones and a little further drive if you wanted to go to Jacksonville or Orlando.

Nice, I lived in the REALLY cheap seats, clear across the Sound-in Port Chester. Great memories of the huge waves at Jones during a NE wind. Lived their from around 1959 through 1967. Not being old enough to understand the Dick Van Dyke show was fictional, whenever we would take the New Haven line into the city, I'd look for him or Laura at the New Rochelle platform.  On the plus side, I've both Bambi and The Dead at the Capital Theater. Downside? While I looked like Eric Clapton in HS, I'm now taken for Jerry Garcia until they count my fingers.
