Bad water pump? UPDATE

Recommended Posts

I was hoping that someone might be able to identify with the situation I'm having.

I know ithere could be several issues going on, i just need some expert advice!

Recently, our  mkz decided to start leaking antifreeze, only when it's running. Thermostat pegged and engine light came on and water everywhere, loss of heat as well.

I immediately thought it could be the water pump so upon further research ive learned that the pump is internal, not what I expected.

Is there any way I can confirm this or is this a job for a technician .

Thanks for all your help!

I wanted to update all those that viewed this thread, just got the car back from the dealer and they TOLD me that it was the water pump, they said they replaced it and a few other things as well but the part I'm not comfortable with is the fact that how do I know that they really replaced the pump, for all I know it could've been a blown hose and charged me 2,000$ for the repair. There is no real way to be certain but at least we got the car back on the road!

Furthermore, we picked the car up right at closing time so I didn't have time to take it for a test drive, I wish I had because it still has a very serious 'shudder' @ 'vibration' when idling, you would think they would've addressed the issue at the time of service. Kinda disappointed after dropping 2k$!

Anyone have any idea what the shaking could be or should I post a new thread!

  Thank you in advance!

Took the car back to dealer, they said that it's a bad motor mount, waiting for the part.  I hope this is it.....

Replacing the motor mount eliminated all shaking and vibration, steering has substantially improved!?
