Battery short life?

Hi all,

New to forums--and have a 2017 black reserve AWD 3.0 with all packages except moonroof--which I didn't want. I looked long and hard for it--found it with 8,000 miles, and had been driven by a female Lincoln exec based in Detroit. Got an AWESOME deal..... (sticker was just under $60K).

Anyway, I'm wondering if others have experienced short battery life with their vehicles? I recognoze that there's a lot of drain inherent in this car, butit's only 3 years old, at 38k miles.....

Dealer says since it can still hold a charge, he can't replace it under warranty. Which I think is ridiculous!

Another question: I have the Revel Ultima sound dydtem. I've been in and out of serious music during my 65 years of life, and to me----the sound stinks on XM/Sirius. It's "ok" on HD radio, etc. Anyone else notice a lousy tinny sound with XM??

Thanks for reading this!

Hi JRW. Concerning your battery question: Modern cars are extremely electronics/electrically intensive. Therefore, 3-4 years out of a battery is about what to expect.

One question though. If your battery is "holding a charge" what makes you think there is something wrong with it? Are you having problems starting or some other issue? If it shows no problems on a battery test, the Dealer can not replace it and there would be no reason to. If it failed, a Dealer would have no problem replacing it, since they are paid by Lincoln to do so.

I also saw you already found the thread by "Takeshi" concerning his cure for those who feel their Revel Ultima has excessive high tone harshness. Please do post back with your results. Also, the quality of Sirius broadcasts is low bit and iffy. That is why you find the problems with Sirius but not HD radio. And if you have good quality music files of your own and play them via USB, you will also find excellent sound quality.

Keep us updated on the battery and sound and good luck.

2017 3.0 AWD here also.  You did well.  The dealer just replaced my battery at 21K miles and 31 months.  As noted by bbf2530, 3-4 years  is the most that anyone's seeing in these cars.  It's the same over on the Ford Fusion Forum.

I again agree with bbf2530 WRT SiriusXM sound quality.  Don't use it as a standard for any comparisons.

2017 3.0 AWD too. My battery was replaced this past June with about 19K. They ran some diagnostic test that took about an hour, and it indicated to replace it. With every car I have owned that came with Sirius, the sound quality was poor. You can go to their site and request to refresh the signal which may help a bit. I called them up and had them do it, but I think you can do it yourself too.

Sounds like you got a nice one. I bought mine used too with about 15K, but it didn't have all the goodies - but it does have the drivers package that was a must.

Good luck!

Funny, drolds, mine (also 3.0T/AWD) was replaced yesterday at 30 months and 20K miles! Hassett must be having a run on MKZ batteries;)

I got a ruby red '17 MKZ for a loaner. You?

No loaner necessary.  I waited and was in and out in an hour.  I guess being a customer for 33 years earns you some perks.?

I wanted the loaner. Dropped off the car, drove to work in the loaner, and picked mine up the next day.

First car I bought at Hassett was a new 1987 Mercury Sable!

I decided to get a "performance battery" online............. I know--no warranty coverage-- but I don't want to buy a battery every 3 years!

It may not be any better--but can't be worse: Exide Marathon Max AGM.......... we shall see!
