Hi all,

Not sure if anyone is still having issues with the phone app not showing location, but I did and got a solution. I ended up opening up a chat via the phone, and here is what they suggested that worked:

Go to your phones Settings

Open APPS

Open Lincoln Way

Go to Storage and Delete Data

I had to log back in, but location works, and my service history now showed up!

Hi Scott. Thanks for the update! It may help another member with similar problems.

Good luck.

I learned recently, when Waze wasn't working correctly, that a data dump will most likely fix most app issues.

In another thread I had stated that I bought an extended warranty.  I received a couple of pages concerning my '17 hybrid.  What I find odd is that under "SYNC VERSION' it says, "V4 Gen 3".  Any ideas on exactly what that is?

Or am I complaining once again?

Hi Chris. Did I miss something? Has someone complained that you complain?

As far as the SYNC version information, it is simply notating the official version of SYNC which your car is currently equipped with. That is the version (along with any official updates from here on) which is covered under your ESP.

Hypothetically: If you were to install an unofficial version which is floating around on the Internet, or install SYNC 4 when it comes out, any problems occurring with it would not be covered under your ESP.

It is nothing to be concerned or worry about.

Good luck.

I was wondering about the V4.  Version 4, I believe, is for the 2020s, as I have a '17.  I only have the Version 3.

Hi Chris. Yes, I understood what you were asking.  You are just misinterpreting what the numbers mean. You have SYNC 3 V4 (Version 4 of SYNC 3), not "Version 3" in your 2017 MKZ.

What you are talking about premiering soon is SYNC 4 (Not SYNC V4 or Version 4).

Lincoln/Ford should just use the SYNC and Build numbers, so that us poor slobs can understand what they mean.

Hope that makes it clearer. Good luck.

I attempted to update via USB flash drive, and I removed the drive just after I received the "Update Complete" message. Based on what I've read in this forum, specifically from bbf2530, it seems I removed the drive before the download was actually complete. I assume this as I continue to receive the popup message, see attached, every time I start the car.

I'm going to attempt again once I have an hour or more driving planned. Can anyone confirm that once the update takes place this popup will go away? Very annoying.

2019 Reserve 2.0, fwd.

Hi ajschicago. Nobody ever pays attention to me. ??

Yes, unfortunately you did not give it enough time to fully update. It is just a standard partial/incomplete SYNC update warning and should straighten itself out once you reinsert the USB and let the update complete.

As you already stated, just be sure to give yourself plenty of time to let it complete. Don't jump and immediately remove the USB when you get an "Update Complete. Remove USB" type of  message. Wait at least 10 minutes before you remove the USB to ensure SYNC does not reboot and resume the installation.

As an alternative, can you connect to WiFi where you park at home or work (in driveway, garage etc)? If yes, connect and see if it will finish by WiFi. It's a 50-50 proposition, but always worth a try.

Out of curiosity, approximately how long do you think you had the USB inserted before you pulled it?

Keep us updated and good luck.

Yup... when it's done, you 'should' see a REMOVE USB DRIVE, or I would imagine via WiFi you should see the little Circle with the down arrow in the upper right corner (actually I think it's there either way)  telling you that it's finishing up

The unit should reboot after it's done.... on its own....

And BBF, I pay attention... I just don't always listen..  ?

After a long trip from Chicago to South Carolina, I ended up bringing the car in for an unrelated issue (brake noise) and they were able to correct the update issue. For what it's worth, I left the USB drive in for hours after I got the "Remove USB Drive". Tried it 2 more times after that. Didn't specifically ask what the dealer did, but it worked.

Thanks for the input all.

Hi ajs. Happy to hear you were able to get the SYNC issue corrected.

And thanks for coming back to update us. Good luck.
