bbf2530
Hi all. For informational purposes: I have SYNC 3 version 18093 in my 2018 MKZ (just updated about a month ago), and as of today there is a new SYNC 3 upgrade available. I have no details yet as to what version it will upgrade to, since I have downloaded the files from the Lincoln Owners website but not installed it in my car yet. I will post back with details as soon as I install it. For those interested, go to the Lincoln or Ford Owners website, sign in and check to see if a new SYNC update is available for your vehicle. Good luck.

fusionff
Looks like it hung up half way, I'll figure it out tomorrow. That damn Lincoln owners website never works for me (PC and Laptop), I always end up in 'The Circle of Death'...
fusionff
Looks like it updated overnight via Wifi, Build 19205. I don't know why, but 'The Circle of Death' is what happens on the Lincoln Owners website for me when searching for Sync Updates. Thankfully the Wifi updates work for me, otherwise I'd be SOL. Anyone else have that issue? Circle of Death Edited September 29, 2019 by fusionff
bbf2530
HI fusionff. Funny, I usually have the opposite problem. Lincoln Owners website SYNC updates page works fine, but no WiFi updates through my MKZ. Now for an interesting new wrinkle. Thought I would go out to my car and see if I could force a WiFi update of SYNC manually. So I went through the menu to "About SYNC" and tried the SYNC updates button (have tried in the past with no luck). First 5-6 times I pressed it I got the same result as always: The "circle of death" for about 5-10 seconds, then the system simply updates the time and date of the latest SYNC update search to the present attempt. So I gave it one more shot and now I have the "circle of death" for the last 10 minutes. I've gone back and checked twice. Still circling. Maybe I had some luck and it is now processing and downloading the update? I will post back with my results, if any. First update - Okay, went back out to the car. The SYNC Update check had stopped, Circle of Death disappeared, and the last date/time checked had updated, as in the past. So I pressed the "Check for SYNC updates" button again. Received the Circle of Death for about 20 seconds, then I got the progress bar for the newest SYNC update, as in your photo last night. However, my file name is JR3T-14G391-CE.... So it seems I am now WiFi updating, but it is listed as a different file ID than yours. Hmmm...can't wait to see how this turns out. ?? Once again, I will keep anyone who cares updated. ? bbf2530
Hi gang. Okay, I installed the SYNC update (via USB). Update went relatively smoothly and my SYNC system is now Build 19205. I would offer the same warning that I did with my previous SYNC update and the NAV maps update: You may get an early message that the update is finished when it is actually not. Leave the USB in for at least 10 minutes after the first "Update Complete" message, to be sure it actually is complete. Having seen it happen before, I left the USB in when the first message popped up, and a few minutes later, SYNC rebooted and the update continued. So give it time and do not be in a rush. Also, it took several restarts after the update to actually have my SYNC Build # show as updated from 18093 to 19205. Good luck.

There are two ways to get these updates, and luckily, both of us have one way that works. That's unacceptable.

However, all I have control over at this point is reporting my results and trying to help others. So that is what I do. ?
MKZMark
Mine came down over Wi-Fi. I can say that the bug that makes the wrong station display in the center of the display isn't fixed. Nothing else noticeable.
Scott
I just checked mine, and it is Build 19205. Guess it must have updated via WiFi too!? I thought that it had to be running the whole time for an update? Edited October 7, 2019 by Scott

No, when working correctly, WiFi updates occur as long as the car is connected to a good WiFi signal source, even when the car is "off". That being said, WiFi updates have been problematic for most owners. So if your SYNC system updated via WiFi, you are one of the lucky owners. ? However, the car does need to be running to update via the USB download/upload method.

Generally speaking, SYNC 3.3 is an improved/upgraded version of SYNC 3. It also includes hardware improvements.
bbf2530
Hi gang. For those who have recently had issues trying to perform the last step of a SYNC 3 update (reporting the update to Lincoln/Ford): The "Report update to Lincoln/Ford" step of a SYNC 3 update is now working. It had not been reliably operative for about two months now but is working as of last night for me. FYI...It took several hours for the site to update my information. Rechecking immediately showed it had not yet updated. I needed to follow the instructions to notify Lincoln of the update, then sign out of the Lincoln or Ford Owners site and sign back in a few hours later. Hope this information helps and good luck. sam kahill
Hi all, I prepared a usb with the update files for my 2015 MKZ H, with Sync Lincoln touch. I am kinda nervous about doing the update in case something goes wrong and end up BRICKing the unit. What are the risks here in case of incorrect or corrupted files on the usb, would the update just fail and remain working on the current software or what? thank you in advance. If you downloaded the SYNC update from the Lincoln Owners website while you were signed in for your vehicle, then you are fine. If it is a "bootleg" (for lack of a better term) update you downloaded from somewhere else on the Internet, I would recommend you do not do it. Be sure to follow the instructions from the Lincoln Owners website. Keep the car running the entire time. I find it best to do when you have an hour plus drive planned, as opposed to keeping the car running while sitting in the driveway. Take your time and don't rush things. One time when I updated, the system gave me an "Update Complete, remove USB and restart car to complete" message. However, that screen disappeared after about 30 seconds, so I waited. Then after a few minutes, the update continued to install for another 25-30 minutes. So even if the update states it is complete, wait at least ten minutes before removing the USB and restarting your car (see information in posts above). That is the advice I can offer from my own experience. Let us know how you make out and good luck. Edited January 16, 2020 by bbf2530 To correct typos. It is still a no go for me. Instruction 1: Visit the SYNC Software Updates page. If you see a notification saying, "You have recently downloaded an update," then you are eligible to confirm that you were able to update your SYNC system successfully. Choose Confirm Update. I do not have the Confirm Update link. It just says: You do not have a download available at this time. Instruction 2: If you do not see the Confirm Update button, you may need to manually report your SYNC software version. Visit the software report page and follow the on screen instructions. When I do that, error message says: Looks like we've hit a roadblock I will try again next time.

For example...Are you trying to determine if your SYNC system has any eligible updates? Or are you trying to report an update you've performed to Lincoln? Something else? Usually, when the site states "You do not have a download available at this time.", it means your SYNC system is updated and the update has been reported to Lincoln. Hello and thank you for your insight on this and several priors, eventually I updated successfully, but still have a small problem with the lincoln way. It all started when I no longer could talk or perform any of the functions with the app.(no reply from vehicle as per Concierge) long story short I restored those functions by disconnecting the 12v battery for 20 min. all the functions but one, vehicle location still does not work..."Unable to locate". I was hoping the software update would solve that, clearly my commands are reaching the vehicle !!! right ? could it be the server is blocking this function, but it did work. I will wait till Monday and call them again. All good now after app reinstall on my phone. I have successfully updated my SYNC and was going to report an update per the last part of the instructions. There was an error the very 1st time I tried to report the update. Like you said, maybe it was already reported but given the error I encountered during my attempt to report made me think otherwise. Thanks. bbf2530
Hi guys. Lincoln/Ford did have a system wide problem the other day with the Lincoln and Ford phone app system. Ancillary functions like Remote Start/Lock/Unlock, Vehicle Location, Tire Pressure etc were inoperative. I am not sure if it was server related etc, but it has been corrected. Is your Lincoln Way app still not working properly? If not, call Lincoln Concierge to see what they can do. If they can not solve the issue, having them set up a service appointment is probably your best bet. Keep us updated and good luck.
Scott
Hi all, Not sure if anyone is still having issues with the phone app not showing location, but I did and got a solution. I ended up opening up a chat via the phone, and here is what they suggested that worked: Go to your phones Settings Open APPS Open Lincoln Way Go to Storage and Delete Data I had to log back in, but location works, and my service history now showed up!
