Trais Posted September 14, 2019 Share Posted September 14, 2019 Unfortunately, a few weeks ago my car battery was dead and to my surprise no emergency key blade in either FOB! So I called roadside assistance and got the car opened and jump started. I was wondering besides the dealer is there anyway to get the code for the door lock to get a key made since I don't have one to copy from? Anyone else had this experience. I was use to my Sonata and E350 having the blade key as part of the ring of the FOB, so I expected to be in the FOB not a separate piece in the FOB. Are the newer versions this same way, a poor design if you ask me. Hi Trais. Are you saying there is no keyblade inside either of your keyfobs, as indicated on page 53 of your Owners Manual? The 2018's (like mine) have an emergency key blade integrated into the fob in a slightly different manner.. Are you sure there is not one in your fob? You can go to a Lincoln or Ford Dealer and see if they can use your VIN to access the keycode for your car. Let us know how you make out and good luck. I will take your advise and head to the dealer, I'm sure its not going to be cheap, but is definently needed. Only wish I checked the inside of the FOBs when I bought the car used. I was use to having the blade as part of the metal ring at the end of the FOB, so I figured it was like Mercedes and even Hyundai fobs. Still love my old 2013 MKZ!
