2015 MKZ HYBRID ,

Recommended Posts

We have a 2015 mkz hybrid 35000 miles, Recently when the car goes from gas to pure electric i am getting a humming sound that goes up and down with the speed of the car in electric,If i give some gas it will get slightly louder, I really can not tell if the humming is there under gas motor since the gas motor makes more noise it blocks it, Im not sure what it can be, The car runs and rides excellent,Plus i am getting 40 plus mpg, Anyone have any idea what this can be or should it be a trip to the dealer..........

The car has been at the dealer for 2 full days, As of late this afternoon they still do not know where the humming noise is coming from, They hear it loud and clear coming from the front of the car, But just can not locate it

I do have to say at least they are trying to fix it, If i hear any thing else i will post it up,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Got my car back, The dealer hears the noise but can not locate it, They had the car for 5 days, I was told it is most likely the electric motor turning and that is the sound it makes,

Since the car is still covered by lincoln for the next 3 years if there is any change ill have to bring it back in

Does anyone with the hybrid notice any whine from the electric motor at around 30mph and above, Not loud but there is a whine.

Hello all, I just joined this forum.

I just bought a used 2015 MKZ Hybrid, and yes mine makes that sound, and it changes pitch with vehicle's speed, I noticed it the first time I test drove it, it sound like an electric motor, you have the main propulsion motor and another in the tranny (eCVT), I read somewhere this CVT does not use a belt, instead it uses an electric motor.

So you have 2 possible sources for that sound, and it isn't necessarily a bad sound of something wrong, I am not concerned.

I have a question about the Blind spot monitoring, I cannot figure out how to turn the audible warning for it, the feature is turned on in the settings but no sound to warn you on the light in the mirror, I have a Mazda that does both light and a choice of 2 audibles.(2015 MKZ Hybrid)

Thank you for that info, We feel so much better knowing that the noise we hear is what it should sounds like

I like this sound , I call it " The sound of the future " .  Good luck with the car , I had a 2013 and now 2016 MKZh , I am completely happy with this car !

I should've specified that the audible on the Mazda ONLY sounds when you activate your signal while a vehicle is in the blind spot.

Me too loving my 2.0H, still discovering all the features, I am wondering if it is a Black Label, is it possible, does anyone know how to tell.

Hi Sam.  One way to tell is what material is your headliner?  Black Labels have a microsuede/alcantara headliner material.  Other models have the regular fabric type headliner material.

Black Labels also have a leather topped dash and door panels, different wheels, different wood, badging etc.  But the easiest way to tell (in my opinion) is simply to look at the headliner material.  Easy to tell the difference.

Let us know what you find out and good luck.

Hi again, based on the criteria you listed, my car is NOT a Black Label, no suede headliner, just a synthetic perforated in white, and no wood, silver trim instead, the dash is leather and the doors are part leather the top 6 inches. No badges either.
