rubyinla
So I bought my 2016 MKZ from the local big box dealer, last October, who also sells; Honda, Volvo, Jaguar, Maserati, VW and Mazdas. Took over 3 hours ? to sign all the papers and face down the finance guy. The car was 2 years old with 25k. I ordered a new cabin air filter off Amazon soon after buying the MKZ, just because I do filters as a car guy. Finally!! got around to replacing it in a garage kept car with 29k on it (750 ?? miles per month). The attached picture of what I found was kind of... disappointing??? Guess the mechanic was pistol whipping the inspection? So the Lincoln service writer agreed that they where mice or similar droppings. So how does a mouse get into a sealed system and why didn't the mechanic take care of it??? Do I have dead mice in my ventilation system left over from the previous owner ??? Doubt it, but a lack of information and bull poop from uninformed service writers raises that question. Email from the service writer: " I showed photos of the filter to my manager and your inspection sheets, We would be happy to offer you a free oil change. However, my manager did want you to know the car was sold in October, and undergoes two inspections before it is sold, and the filters that come originally in the car are not stamped with "motorcraft" as the one you showed me, so it was replaced with the OEM replacement as stated in your report. The original filters are stamped differently from the factory. ( I did not actually know this)....but anyway, we value you as a customer and a free oil change is something we can offer. " I'm thinking his service manager should double check his mechanics. And I'd sure hope the original filter had been changed after 2 years. He didn't mention how bent the filter was from someone not installing it correctly either. And the motorcraft filter was certainly not up to the standard of the carbon filter I installed. At least I get an oil change.
riff raff
That's pretty wild and a bit disappointing. I'd say to the service center, I'll need 10 free oil changes OR you can disassemble and clean my entire cabin air system to clear it for dead mice/vermin, your call. (doubt there are any dead mice inside). I've never changed my cabin air filter......
rubyinla
My problem, their defense, is I waited too long to change the filter. Six months later they can claim anything. It's quite simple to change. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HSUDBSJ485U I put one of these in. Nice thing is you don't have to fiddle with which way the air flow is ? https://www.amazon.com/Cleenaire-Advanced-Protection-Bacteria-Allergens/dp/B01N8YQGLR/ref=sr_1_fkmrnull_5?keywords=cleenaire+cabin+filter+caf71&qid=1558016329&s=automotive&sr=1-5-fkmrnull And have used this brand in our Flex: https://www.amazon.com/POTAUTO-Activated-Replacement-compatible-Upgraded/dp/B01KPN444E/ref=sr_1_5?_encoding=UTF8&qid=1558016046&s=automotive&sr=1-5&vehicle=2015-55-5859------------1&vehicleName=2015+Lincoln+MKZ
