bbf2530
Hi all. Don't know if anyone else has posted this information yet, but it is encouraging news for those of us who still do not wish to drive a CUV, SUV or truck! According to Blue Oval Forums member "ice-capades" (a very reliable source), his Ford Zone Manager has informed his Dealership that production for the Ford Fusion has now been extended through at least the 2023 model year. Hopefully, this means the same or even better for our MKZ/newly named replacement! Hope this makes some of you happy!
fusionff
I saw that information earlier on BOF. I assume since they build the Fusion and MKZ in the same plant, I guess the current MKZ will stick around until a new Lincoln sedan is introduced. drolds1
Hmm. I Wonder what changed their minds. Good news for us, though. On a side note to that, the Ford Fusion Hybrid became the 2nd-best selling hybrid vehicle in the U.S as of last month, surpassing the Prius. Zalvern
MKZ will be reborn, that is a given. When and what it'll be is exactly still a mystery (unless you work in the heart of engineering design and testing). 2020 Ordering information should come out soon. Maybe they'll update the transmission to the 8-speed, Gen3 Adaptive Cruise Control, and HUD option at some more enticing features. If the Fusion is going to last that long as well, surely it'll see some decent upgrades beyond new paint choices.
Zalvern
https://www.fleet.ford.com/resources/ford/general/pdf/brochures/2019/2020_Fleet Preview Guide_Spreads.pdf This will give some insight on carry over models for 2020 (late year replacements like the 2020 Escape and Corsair are not listed yet). The Fusion Sport is completely gone. Ouch, so now Fusions can only be had with 4 cylinders. Well the power gap between Fusion and MKZ is potentially huge now. Standard 3.0 Aviator got its Torque bumped up to 415 (matches the Explorer ST now). No changes made to MKZ or Continental, unless I missed something (minus paint color choices?). They still will get the ol' 6 speed transmission. Time to wait for the next end of the year Auto Show for Lincoln to reveal hopefully CD6 Zephyr and Continental. fusionff
Well, that's the Fleet vehicle brochure. So maybe the Fusion Sport is not available for fleet purchase, but will still be available for consumers. But it is not selling great, discounts are huge to get them off the lots now, so I wouldn't be surprised if it's gone. I can almost guarantee that the MKZ will keep the 6 speed trans until the new model arrives, like 99.996%.

That was my first thought, so I dug up previous year fleet brochures and the Fusion Sport is on there. Generally if Ford plans (A,Z, and X) are valid, the vehicle is also available for fleet purchase. Black Label vehicles are one exception to that rule. That is how I conclude Fusion Sport got removed, and most likely for reasons you say too.

Putting 2+2 together= no Fusion Sport. I was surprised to see that they still make the E-series vans, even in chassis only.
fusionff
Well, it's official, the Fusion Sport is dead, no mas, finished. The 2020 Order Guide is out, and it's not included, errr, I mean Deleted. Edited May 14, 2019 by fusionff
Zalvern
So the fleet sheet foretold the future. With all the deleted and downgrade changes, this looks more like the final year for the Fusion. If I read it right, they're removing the led headlights with halogens only. This must be an attempt to clear out 2019s that will be better equipped with features. The 2019 Fusion Sport is by far the best the Fusion will ever get in balance of features and performance, as it became the real top trim tier. Reverted the passenger power seat back to how it was in 2014, with limited position function over driver. Ditched having an actual spare tire for a inflator kit. This is production cost reduction and phasing out steps. Either Fusion is done next year (expected), or some magic happens and it appears on CD6. Well at least the MKZ shouldn't be feature gutted this badly. Perhaps just more streamlined packaging.
