jm98
All, 14 MKZh backup camera seems to quit in the middle of reverse drive. Sometimes backup video does not even show. I am not sure if it's camera of a system.
drolds1
Check the camera wiring harness along its length to where it enters the interior of the car. IIRC, there was a TSB for backup camera wiring chafing but I can't find it right now so IDK what MYs are covered.

Something like that would be covered, from the original in-service date, under the 4 year/50,000 mile Bumper to Bumper Warranty. Are you the original owner? If yes, when did you purchase the car? If less than 4 years/50,000 miles ago, it will be covered. Or it could also possibly be covered by a Lincoln ESP or other Extended Warranty, if you purchased one. If you purchased used, did it come with a CPO or other Warranty? If yes, you need to determine if it is still covered under the CPO or used car warranty contract years/miles limitations. Let us know how you make out and good luck. Edited April 22, 2019 by bbf2530
jm98
My purchased was with certified as I paid $1000 for certification at Lincoln dealer. However I might be out of luck as I got 85K miles on it.
phat j
What did you find? I have the same issue with my 2013
jm98
Likely wiring issue.. It happens randomly and mostly on hot days. I will have to live with it.
Smokestone10
Another vote for "check the wiring". My 2010's monitor blacks out sometimes, but I've noticed that simply opening and closing the trunk will fix it. Leads me to think it's loose at the terminal in my case. When it happens again I'll pop off the trunk lid liner and take a look-see.

jm98
Is there better camera I can replace with? I would love to utilize opportunity to replace the camera.
Multitask
The car will use a better camera... but you gain no extra features... that is up to the car.

Without knowing the model year of your MKZ, the general answer is that the camera is located (obviously) behind the lens and the wiring runs through the trunk lid. It's exposed by removing the trim on the underside of the deck lid.
djtech2k
I have a 2013 and it started saying "Backup Camera is Unavailable" a few months back. Thinking about trying to replace it but not sure how hard it is. Has anybody been able to do it and is there a video or anything to show how hard it is to get to?
