Stardaddyed
I am a little (very little) disappointed in the stock head lights on my 2017. They work just fine but they are not the brightest and I have a hard time noticing that the brights are actually on. Is there a upgrade I can do to improve the performance without having the rewire the car? Thanks in advance.

Is your MKZ equipped with the HID headlight system, or the LED headlight system? Have you checked to be sure your high beams are actually operating correctly? Do you have the Auto High Beam system on or off? Have you tried checking and adjusting your headlights if needed (instructions are in the Owners Manual)? Check to be sure everything is actually working and adjusted correctly. If you find an issue you can't correct, bring it in for Warranty service. The reality is that the MKZ has a good lighting system if it is working properly. If it is working and adjusted properly, there is not much that can be done to legally and inexpensively change it. Let us know what you find out and good luck.
MKZMark
I believe Consumer Reports had been knocking Ford's headlights lately. I have the HID with the auto high/low beam and there's a big difference between high and low. In fact on twisting roads with the car ahead going in and out of view, the high/low switching makes the driver think I'm flashing at him. I've also annoyed drivers coming the other way because of the slow responsiveness of the system.

Very dangerous trying to go through the menus when driving. I had to do this a few weeks ago when driving in thick fog. High beams kept going on, and therefore blinding me. Had to drive in fog and try to find the auto high beam setting. On/off button on the dash would be great. Or even a quick succession of slaps to the paddle to disengage them. Btw, bbf2530, I drove through Joisey on my way back from the south. Did you see me waving?

I'm pretty sure all you have to do is turn the headlight switch on the dash to non-auto.

I thought that may have been you on I-95? But you passed me before I could even wave! ? How was your trip? Hope you had fun. And hey...what did you decide to do about the oil change before you left? Did you change or wait?

The feature only works when the Autolamp position is engaged.

It was still clear and full when I left. Also went looking for someone in Palm Coast: Edited February 15, 2019 by Chris109

Thanks for getting my curiosity up and looking. Yes, it's in the manual and they are also connect to your windshield wipers during certain situations.
