Scott Posted January 9, 2019 Share Posted January 9, 2019 I was going to my local dealer for another issue, and my Sync 3 froze up on the way. When this happened, I shut it off and started it back up. The screen was still froze. So, I added that to the list when I spoke to the service adviser. If you shut off the engine and re-started the engine - but did not open the drivers door and close it, it probably did not force a re-boot. You have to open the door. You can force a re-boot while driving by pressing the radio power and FF buttons at the same time until the screen goes blank. It will then restart. I think my 2017 with Sync3 has frozen maybe once. My prior 2013 with Sync2 froze a couple times which is when I tracked down the re-boot instructions in the owners manual. As tech heavy as the cars are and the extreme heat and cold they are subject to, I am surprised Sync doesn't freeze more often. Scott Posted March 22, 2019 Author Share Posted March 22, 2019 I had it in last week and they replaced the APIM and the FPIM. It has not froze up since, and my phone is not connecting/disconnecting all the time now. I am hoping that this solved the problem. Chief7 Posted June 3, 2019 Share Posted June 3, 2019 My 2019 with 242 miles has been having this lock up issue since delivery! It has been in twice and had a service bulletin done on it a week ago. The problem remains. I did a Master Reset on it myself, and it is better, but still is not consistent in proper operations. It will start up correctly and then all buttons - including radio channel changes - are inoperative. Sometimes it just gives me a blue screen with nothing working but whatever radio channel was on. Today, when leaving for a meeting about 20 miles away, I set the navi for the location - and it locked up. I shut down. opened and closed the door, and it took 3 minutes to shut down. When I restarted it worked fine... until I exited the interstate. then the navigation just stopped! About 1/4 miles later it started up again! I stopped at the dealer and spoke with the service manager and am hoping the will find a solution. I'm thinking whatever electronic brains are behind the dash are the problem - and I am hoping they will just replace them! Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
