What’s your next car?

Blackbr

Recommended Posts

I’m at the halfway point of my 39 month lease of a 2017 MKZ, a car I am enjoying very much.

In two years I don’t see a new model being available.  The Continental is a great car but I don’t see leasing a well equipped one for my desired payment.  I don’t want an SUV so I expect to defect from a Lincoln.

I have met my local Volvo dealer and will test drive the S60 (my front runner) once they get them. The Genesis G70 is intriguing but I prefer more overt luxury cars.  Might drive Lexus ES too, but that runs a little larger and has godawful infotainment.

What suits your fancy?

Hi Blackbr.  While Ford has announced it is eliminating their cars/sedans except for Mustang, all of Lincoln's car plans are not publicly known yet. There may still be an MKZ replacement (with a RWD/AWD possibility) and a Continental. So don't give up yet.

Good luck.

My next car will be a 2018 MKZ. In about eight years when I can get one with 112k on it like I did with my 2010. ? Or maybe I'll find a nice low-mile Continental Black Label. I have a few years to make up my mind.

I also prefer to buy my cars with a few years and 60-100k in them. I had been aiming for a 2017/18 MKZ since they were revealed, but after about the four year old mark. That's not far off, but I'm getting older and this could be my last car.

I've been searching around for a high optioned reserve, in blue with white interior, and the 3.0 AWD. Those are very rare I see from what's available. My local dealer has a 2018 black label, but it doesn't have the Driver's Package. I'd like to go see it closely, but I'm not in a rush at all, so much other stuff to do at home.

After my experience, I'm just biding my time with my cheap lease. I'll have cash ready to enjoy something real nice when I'm ready for it.

I'm waiting for more on CD6. Ideally with newer techs like:

10-Speed Transmission

Dual (Port and Direct) Injection Fueling

Electric torque motor (like on the Aviator)

Next gen Mustang may be my call. But I do wait and see what Lincoln will replace the MKZ with. Either an all new sedan or coupe, or just something that looks great but isn't an Utility Vehicle.

I have about 7 months to the end of my lease.  Been thinking about:

Buick Regal GS, Cadillac CT5 (if it’s out), loaded Toyota Camry XSE V6, Lexus ES 350, Volvo S60 T6, Genesis G70...

If there's no new Fusion, you can be sure there will be no new MKZ. The American auto industry is giving up on the sedan for the most part, especially Ford. I've already sold my 2013 MKZ and gotten a Kia Stinger V6 AWD. The Asians, like the Germans, are still serious about sedans. Bye, Ford.

Will admit I'm considering the Stinger as well to replace my Focus with in 2021 as my all around daily, especially if Lincoln drops out. Having both a Mustang and Stinger offset each other quite nicely, plus thankfully...I have a family friend who can help with having a good Kia dealership experience (something that people complain about).

I was excited about the Stinger as well.  Now that I've read a few long-term reports, not so much. There have been some first-year model issues. Car & Driver.  Every report I've read has complaints about rattles and creaks from the hatch.   Maybe these issues will be addressed in newer models. I think I'd prefer the Genesis G70 anyway.  Several hundred pounds lighter and a shot at a better dealer experience.

The Genesis G70 is smaller but comes with the more luxury perks, as long you do not mind its rear and trunk space.  Better brand choice if wanting to stick with something equal to Lincoln level. The G80 is the actual rival to the MKZ. G90 rivals the Continental.

It's on my possibility list too, depending how they improve in the coming years. I'll still like a comfortable but exhilarating form of performance as my all year daily. After having my MKZ as my early new year model, no regrets but think I'll play the year after game now (which is why I wait for 2020 Mustang Bullitt as well, plus other small tweaks that may happen).

Yeah, it's kind of cramped in the back.  I haven't seen in person yet to determine how bad it is.  A guy in my Lincoln LS club has a G80 V8 and he's pretty happy with it.  They do have a Sport version but it's a porker.  Almost 4700lbs.

I drove the Nautilus recently and was highly impressed.  Equipped how I’d want though the Nautilus would price out at least 10k above my MKZ so I don’t know if that will fly. I could get an Edge with nearly all the features I’d want in the Nautilus for around 40k, but that would feel like a step down from my MKZ.

Drove an S60 Volvo T6 Momentum and was not impressed.  I can’t really articulate why, although it was plenty quick it sounded like driving a VW Beetle.  I’ll give it another chance in Inscription or R trim next time.

Im anxious to try the Arteon as a poor man’s A7 but you can’t get it with lane centering (just lane assist which ping pongs you when you hit a marker).  I’m also to see what sedan Acura will be showing soon, I’ve had two TLs and enjoyed them both.

Our priorities:

1. Keep or trade up our 2005 MKZ to 2017-2018.

2.  A wagon to replace our pair of 2005 Subaru Legacy GT AWD turbo's (one wagon, one sedan).  No Mondeo wagon from Ford, so...

3. If Lincoln were to unveil a variant of the Mustang we'd give it a look.

4. A track day car, but that's several years out after we move.

I'm now becoming allured by the Aviator, which is a first ever in regards to SUVs. My Black Label dealer has been in touch and would like me to come out and try out their demo unit that is to arrive around April 25th. I don't think it'll be a Grand Touring (later release in the year and ordering banks isn't open for it) but would let me get a chance to see the new 3.0 layout in longitudinal form.

My hope is the 3.0 Engine (with the hybrid) in the Aviator has PFDI technology and if so...I just may put down a deposit depending on MKZ and Continental information for 2020.

Seriously need an small SUV or a crossover but after the MKZh I definitely want another hybrid.... Don't know if I can wait until 2020 for the Lincoln version

If you're thinking about the Corsair, ordering should open week of May 13th. Then vehicles should start arriving in August 2019. 2020 vehicles will be out before the actual 2020 year rolls over (I got my 2017 MKZ actually in July 2016).

Here is a buildout sheet: http://www.bblfleet.com/fleetdocs/ford_buildout.pdf

Edit: while it says "MKC", that will also reflect the Corsair as the following model.

I didn't see the Corsair listed on that build out sheet.

too far out.... I need this now or in the next few months, Can't even find any build/pricing info on the Corsair online to even see if I want to wait that long.

Checking out the 2019 Toyota hybrid RAV4 hopefully this week.

I'm looking into that one also.  The one thing that I can't have is the buttons near the shifter.  Whenever I take long trips, one of my cats needs to sit on my lap (carrier is not an option).  She may inadvertently press one of those buttons.  I would need to actually sit in the vehicle to judge.

You can take your cats on a car trip?  Wow, I envy you.  Mine carry on like I'm burning them with cigarettes on the 15-minute trip to the vet. ?

Hi R2D2.  Zalvern mentioned it, but you may have missed it. The information on that Build Sheet for the 2020 MKC is actually for the Corsair. So according to that Build Sheet, the current schedule states that the Order Bank will open on 5/13/19, and JOB1 is scheduled for 8/5/19. The Order bank for the 2019 MKC is already closed.

Hope that helps.
