That was a common issue on the Fusions, Zephyrs, and early MKZ.

A new interior door handle is what you need,  it's pretty simple, and there a a bunch of videos on Youtube to assist you.  Most videos show a Fusion, but it should be very similar.

You can try this trick for now.

So let me get this straight..... My wife comes home with my MKZ and parks in the garage and she could get locked in there overnight until I find her in the am? Frankly this does not sound all that bad.... Was this an option on my 2017? I may have ordered that option if available! Probably called "Free night locking system for the guys check box 2"

Yeah well you gotta realize that she is able to unlock the window and therefore access the handle from the outside.

That's good shit right there, thanks bro!

Well i wanted to say thanks for your advice, the trick has worked great and i finally got a new handle for her today and everything seems to be working as expected.

I did notice that the new install doesn't seem to fit exactly the same as the old one, but at least it's working.

Btw it was obvious to me that someone else had been there before, probably to replace the door handle.

 Thanks again!

Do the JETS give away a pizza when they win?  The Brownies gave away a beer..

If us Jets fans depended on wins for food, we'd all be wearing skinny jeans.

Glad it worked out, maybe if you open it up again you can get it to fit better.
