Presuming my ‘Z is built by the end that week, about how much transit time should one allow for a new MKZ to make its way from Hermosillo to Oklahoma? Two weeks? Three? More? (I realize the timing of things—the holidays—may slow things down in my case.) Hi 1984. Only a guess of course, but I would surmise a transit time of less than two weeks if it ships before the holiday. However, keep in mind that a car is not driven the back door of the factory and right onto a rail car. There are logistics involved as to how cars are loaded and shipped. So cars can sit for varying periods of time before loading. Again, just my educated opinion, but I think there is a chance, although it may be slim, that you may have your car for Christmas. As you stated, the abbreviated holiday manufacturing and shipping schedules are working against you. But being close to Hermosillo is in your favor too, if they have it built in time for shipping before the holiday shut down. Your Dealer has access to all the production and shipping information. Some Dealers are good at communicating this information to the customer, some not so good. Let them know you would like to be kept notified and don't be afraid to check with them once a week or so. I hope you can get that nice Christmas present you are hoping for. 1984Poke
FunktasticLucky
Well I can tell you what my dealer told me when I ordered my car. Allotments are key here. I had an AWD 3.0 black label (which get prioritized before all over productions) and I had to wait a while. Order was placed I believe April 3rd, had a VIN by April 16th. Vehicle was built on June 4th and got the vehicle on June 27th. It was almost 12 weeks when I got it and the dealership said it was usually 8-12 weeks avg from order to delivery. But sometimes it can take them much longer depending on allocations. 1984Poke

Hi Funktastic. The trim level names have changed for 2019., so just to avoid confusion for others: The "Reserve II" trim level 3.0T AWD MKZ now comes with "Dynamic Torque Vectoring" as standard equipment. The 3.0 is not available on the "Reserve I" trim level at all.

From the date on the Window Sticker or another source? The reason I ask is because the date on our Window Stickers is not the actual build date. It is an administrative date/the date the sticker was released, which can be as little as several days to a week, or as much as 10 days or even >two weeks before the actual build date. If I remember correctly, my 2018 order took ~10 weeks from order date to delivery. My 2007 took 6 weeks from order to delivery. Both times I was told expect approximately 8 to 10 weeks. Of course, none of what I am stating matters for much more than anecdotal evidence of what happened in my particular case, so those wondering about their 2019's can take it for what it is worth. Another factor which may be in favor of those ordering 2019's is that Lincoln/Ford are not stocking dealers with MKZ's and Fusions sitting on their lots for the 2019 model year as they did in the past. Essentially, in most cases, Dealer orders are required to be Special customer orders for 2019's, except for the Hybrids. That may mean good news and shorter wait times for those of us who factory order, since hypothetically, Special Orders can be scheduled sooner after ordering. But that is just some hypothesizing by me at this point. Anyways, good luck to all my fellow and future MKZ drivers! ?

A combination of talking to my dealership and logging into the Ford Etis website and looking at my VIN. The car didn't show up in ETIS until the week or two prior to build with and estimated build date of June 5th. Ended up being built on June 4th. The window sticker showed up the about a week and a half before build and the date on it changed a couple times as it went through the system. The ETIS system will show your actual build date. Our cars were built within weeks of each other. Good luck with your MKZ!
FunktasticLucky
It hasn't been bad other than some minor shit with the dealership. I took it from NE to OK then to NC. Went to Florida then back to NC and now I'm down in MS. I'll be back in NC in several weeks then headed back to NE. I'll have 10k miles on it before 6 months. I guarantee it lol. I'm at 8300 right now. Just a couple rattles I will get taken care of and then fighting with them to fix the rear deck rattling from the stereo. It doesn't even have to be up that loud and they are like not our problem. Hope yours is working out pretty well for you.

I picked mine up 6/1 and although my mileage is far below yours (~1,900), we love it and have no complaints so far. Do not give up on the rattles. The reality is that it is their problem. It's their job. Treat them courteously and if you can't get proper treatment and satisfaction from your Dealer's Service Department, contact the Lincoln Concierge and Lincoln/Ford Customer Relations. Good luck.
1984Poke
Funktastic, do you mind telling us what stereo system (with the rear speaker noise) your MKZ has? Base system? 14-speaker Revel system? 20-speaker Revel system? The dealer where I ordered my 2019 MKZ-H has a 2018 MKZ on the floor with very few miles on it that the dealer bought back from a couple who was dissatisfied with a sound of some kind (rattle?) from the rear speakers of their ‘18 Z. Rather than have a ticked-off customer, the dealer bought it back. I’m wondering if that speaker issue is a common problem with recent ‘Zs. Thanks. FunktasticLucky
It's the 20 speaker system. It sounds amazing but the rear sunshade vibrates on the rear deck and the rear deck vibrates on the glass. It's pretty shitty. It wasn't that bad in the beginning but the other night we were listening to Warren G regulate and it was rattling at level 8. That's not acceptable. 1984Poke

I have the 20 speaker system, and there are no rattles, thank the lord. I don't have a rear sunshade, since I have the panoramic roof, so maybe that's a source for some rattles. Not happy with mine. Way too much high-end. I've had to cover the tweeters on the doors doors cause it was killing my ears. Only way I can get the perfect sound is to bluetooth music from my phone thru VLC. Then I can adjust the equalization to perfection. Still trying to use Android Auto apps. Although I shouldn't have to do this. Stereo on my '13Zh destroys this system. My kingdom for a decent 7 band equalizer.
FunktasticLucky
That's how I felt too. The 14 speaker didn't seem as balanced. It's a great system but it seems harsh in the high end. My 20 speaker Ultima seems more balanced but I still do take the treble down a notch or 2 depending on what I'm listening too.

I'll jump in and add that I have the 20 speaker Ultima system, and while I do not blast the system, I do crank it up a little sometimes. No rattles or vibration problems. I have the rear sunshade. 1984Poke
Update: As it looked like it would be February before I would get the 2019 Reserve II MKZ Hybrid that I ordered last October (and was mistakenly NOT actually ordered by the dealership until almost Thanksgiving), I bought an identical (except for exterior and interior colors) 2019 MKZ Hybrid off my Lincoln dealer’s lot today, getting a really good deal as well as excellent financing through LAFS. Darling Wife and I drove it off the lot at 1645 this afternoon. It is in my garage now. It has Infinite Black Metallic paint (first time in my life ever to have a black car!) and a cappuccino interior. The ‘Z I ordered two months ago was Rhapsody Blue with the ebony interior, but everything else on the car I bought today is the same as what I ordered in October. I always shied away from black cars as I thought they would be too difficult to keep clean. However, I figured it would not be appreciably more difficult to keep a black car clean than the dark Rhapsody Blue color, so I decided to give black a try, given that this car was available to put in my garage today (and given that I didn’t know how much longer the really low LAFS interest rates were going to be offered). Besides, I thought, some pinstripes would look really sharp on the metallic black paint that adorns the sculpted lines of the MKZ! The dealership is not holding me to the Rhapsody Blue ‘Z that I’d tried to order in October. They will put it on their lot and sell it when it arrives. So...I turned in my leased 2016 MKC this afternoon (within the three-month “Early Bird” lease termination window) and drove away in a shiny new black 2019 MKZ! Happy, happy. fusionff and KenZ 1

Your story sounds very similar to mine. I ordered my Rhapsody Blue MKZ earlier this year, which did not get ordered for at least a month by the dealership. The dealer received a Black MKZ just after I had placed my order, with a few more options, and made it available to me for the same price as my ordered car. But having the Black Z is not as bad as I remember, having had a black car in the past, it seemed more of a PITA to keep clean back then. No regrets at all going with Black over Blue, plus it looks great in Black. Enjoy yours.

The black isn't that hard to keep clean especially if you keep it well waxed. The water beads up and flies off. Salt is a different matter though. FunktasticLucky
If you have the money and can swing it, I highly recommend you find a local detailer and have paint correction and a ceramic coating installed. It will make things so much easier in the long run to keep things clean and it will always looked waxed for you. I went on the more expensive side and got feynlabs self heal plus on mine. But you can do self heal lite as well. Or go with the super hard stuff like Kenzo or opticoat pro plus or something similar. Edit: Added some photos.
