The End of my 2017 MKZ

Remaining items are now up for sale:

I will move to other things like Craigslist but giving these forums first dibs for a bit.

I have least managed to lease a new 2018 Ford Focus SEL since I was always in good standing with my MKZ's payments, as any other dealers wouldn't give me a chance beyond some used out of warranty vehicle (asking for trouble with my kind of job). I don't mind the performance loss, since I make up in fuel economy and savings by using regular fuel. But losing the convenience and comfort features definitely is going to stink in winter time.

Have not heard back from the Police either in regards if the snake was caught. I at least...want to hear that someday, and don't let him do this to another person out there.

Make the car payments on time, get a secured credit card by putting down about 500-1000 dollars, and if you can afford it, get a $1000 1 year loan from possibly a credit union.  Make all the payments.  In about 1-2 years, you are back with a decent credit rating.

I saw the part-out thread before this one, aw man this is really unfortunate. Similar to what the others have said - I am glad you are ok.

It was great having you here on the forum, blazing the trail for 3.0TT/MKZ/FusSprt owners. I always appreciated the level of detail you put into your posts because not a lot of people take the time to explain things, share their story, their experience, and help others to that extent. Whatever you do next, don't lose that passion you have for doing that sort of thing, or alternatively find another way to channel and utilize that aspect of you and you'll be back in no time, out of your "low" point.

Growth, cannot happen without change, so while this event is sad and understandably upset you, it is merely a change, and only you are in charge of what that change will do for you.

That being said, If you need help at the end of the year for tax filings, message me - I will file your returns free of charge, and help any way I can.

You don't need it, but good luck! And thank you for your contributions to the MKZ community.

I mean to say thanks for the advice.

Credit wise, I still have one card from my credit union in good standing (never late). I maintain this and aim to keep this as my one and only card. Then of course is my lease which is with Ford/Lincoln (Cab East LLC). It helped I of course was always on time and never struggled with paying my MKZ either. A new vehicle with fuel economy in mind and all warranty in tact is nothing I would complain about.

I at least got the 11 speaker sony system. Interestingly enough, the bass is stronger than the Revel Ultima's so I don't lose my music quality. I still have Sync 3 as well, just without Nav but that is what Waze is for anyway. Will really miss the smartphone control, heated steering wheel, seats, and things that really make it cozy for winter time. Losing comfort convenience hurts more than performance, for gas savings at least offsets that (dropping to regular fuel and gaining 10+ mpg average city wise, big savings).

I'll use this time to re evaluate my life and plan accordingly. It's not like I'm homeless, jobless, and now not carless anymore. I am unsure what I want to do, and my car passion has taken a hit because of the accident mentally. So the best thing is to wait before taking any action and continue saving any income I can get.

I'll still browse and answer things from time to time on the forums if I can. As maybe in 3 years if the MKZ gets a true name and much more worthwhile upgrades, I'll come back since I do feel a strong sense to support Ford and Lincoln for my daily driver in the future. I just don't want a Utility Vehicle or Truck however.

It sounds like you have everything under control for the near future.

The main thing is that you emerged unscathed.  Every time I look at that video, I can't help thinking that if you'd taken off a second later, he would have T-boned you right in the driver's door.

You'll be back to where you were. You seem like a level-headed, responsible person.

I do hope you'll hang around here. You've been a real asset.

I settled on a sedan focus since it had the Sony system in it. Saving more than 50% in fuel costs, can be lazy with wash cleaning (just a 'nother Focus on the road) and not picky about parking. I'll be saving aggressively for a future car, yet will wait till various improvements are made.

port/direct injection with forced induction motor like the 3.5L EcoBoost or 5.0 Coyote are something I'll want, maybe the 3.0 will get it in the future. I'll be waiting for this unless I go for performance hybrid instead.

Insurance and police still in pursuit. That truck has been impounded. Once I learn of anything more I'll lawyer up and fight for additional financial compensation.

I am happy to hear they found the guy. If you don’t mind me asking, did you have gap insurance? If you did, you should come out on top of thus. Plus, the pain and suffering will be worth $$.

I was still in the lease under the Motor Company (Ford/Lincoln and their lien holder is Cab East LLC, via Lincoln Automotive Financial Services). It is required to have gap insurance if you lease a vehicle which is part of the final purchase price. So I won't have to suffer the outgoing remaining balance. While my account is still active since this isn't a easy payout case (with it involving a culprit on the run) my MKZ lease at least is just postponing any payments till everything clears, it won't ding my credit or relationship as they know whats up.

Excellent! Things will work out okay. I had a Focus Titanium with the handling package. It was one of the best cars I have ever owned and Ford was on top of things with extending the warranty and repairing the dual clutch transmission proactively. It will be a good in between vehicle until everything pays out. What color?

The police finally have the hit and run driver of the truck. Now to pursue justice.

I won't go too much into detail, but the driver will not be escaping their crime.

Hi Zalvern.  Good, glad to hear they have caught him.  Hope everything will work out for you now.

Keep us updated and good luck.

Just a small tid bit for those who may need parts: My MKZ was sold at an auction and departed. Big things like the Engine, Transmission were salvaged and made available for sale at: http://recycler.car-part.com/APlusAutoLLC/

The vehicle's VIN is: 3LN6L5HC5HR611338

A ton of parts are available for sale. Various otherwise expensive major components along with the Vineyard interior. Revel Ultima System speakers, etc. Found at

APlusAutoLLC

2125 Catnip Hill Road Nicholasville, KY 40356.

2 grand for engine base. Of course that is the raw core itself, requiring buying all other necessary parts separately. But it was a good strong core, and had the cylinder head fix done. It had the best oil and coolant (and was clean) so despite being used, I would totally use it again if I could in another vehicle. Same for the transmission.

So if ever needing parts for a MKZ remember this post for information! They sell on eBay as well which is how I found where my car's direction went.

Glad you're ok Zalvern. I know what you're going thru having been a victim too some years back so sorry man. It's a life-changing event for sure but you're ok and that's what is most important.

Could have been a totally different outcome were it not for the MKZ which gave up its life for you.

One way or another the SOB who did this will pay, tho unfortunately perhaps not in $$$$$.

I've been very busy with family issues and inactive way too long. Zero time in any of my cars.

Wish you the best man -- and hope u stay active here -- It's been a pleasure reading all about your mods and MKZ adventures.

Thank you very much Colin. Truth be told, I'm doing much better. With the money I've been saving, being 6 months from now, my student loans will be gone and I'll have more disposable income than ever to enjoy a future awesome ride as my reward with no other debts. When my fun came to an end due to the total loss, I decided to take this time to buckle down, clean up, and organize the lifestyle financially. I have plenty of time since I wish to wait for CD6 platform vehicles now (not till like CD 2020 and 2021).

The felon got jail time and I'll just leave it up to insurance to recoup anything. I might get something in return down the line as reimbursement.

I may get a Lincoln again as long they continue the MKZ with a new name, or better yet create a coupe version under the new CD6 platform with Grand Touring upgrades. If not Lincoln, I'll probably just go for the next gen Mustang built on CD6.

One can look back on their life with regards to every situation, and understand that everything does happen for a reason.  Because of this event, you have 'gotten your act together' (not to be meant as you were messed up like me, and I've been to some of the best doctors...) and are on your way to something better.  If he didn't hit you, you would be further in debt trying to keep your head above water.  I could run off a hundred different things that have happened to me in the past and see that every bad event has caused a good and better event to transpire.  Hopefully, the guy that hit you will have something better for him when he gets out.  Hoping bad things for him cause he hit you, isn't the right thing to wish for.

He is serving jail time for the actions, and at this point I have no input in regards to his future but I know him hitting me wasn't intentional, which is an important factor on how to judge a person. The foolish mistake was just leaving me there, and that applies to anyone.

Honestly what was messing me up prior to this event,  was another foul person taking advantage of me financially, intentionally, who I once trusted (we've all been there in some way), and I view worse than the guy who hit me for precisely that difference. I had rid myself of the negative by focusing on my travel job and at least keeping my MKZ which brought joy and still within my budget to maintain. My MKZ was more enjoyable than said person, who tried to get me to drop the car in favor of her...well you see what my choice was when I woke up and got away.

I was on my way to my goals of debt freedom, but the loss just accelerated my plans. If you really care for a car and the time spent, it's not easy to replace even with something identical. It's better to go into "fianacial wisdom mode", utilize all the disciplines you know that will better lifestyle in the long run, and be patient with the basic vehicle that gets the job done. Slashing the monthly payment, dropping back to regular fuel, and the place I work at is only 10 mins drive time (no highways so it's not like I'd even enjoy bigger power now). These are boons indeed that do not make me think "I wish time could go back" just to potentially save the car. This present and upcoming future will be better indeed.

...and that gentlemen is how you evolve and become a greater person from tough times!

Change of plans. I created a more awareness style video with my pictures and dash cam, mostly because some comments were poisoning my original. It's nothing simple or flashy, just simple editing.I won't allow foul comments though which is a shame so many things in life must be moderated.I know these degenerates online just love to talk smack (most likely this sad person must be bitter their friend is in jail, rightfully and deserving so) but I'll stand my ground as needed. One thing that has changed about me since then, is I won't be silenced by these pathetic ones.

That's a great video, I plan on installing front & rear cameras in my Z (Possibly the same cameras) when the weather warms up a bit.  t113007.gif

On another note, I am in possession of your center armrest. t2007.gif Since I'm keeping my car for a long time (Hopefully), the one part that always wears out is that armrest pad.  Now I have a BL interior armrest ready for when & if I need it.
