jrross
So I am about due for replacement brakes on my 2016... what brands should I consider and what might be decent upgrades? drilled/slotted rotors? Nothing too huge and not really looking to change the calipers....modest improvements? Thanks,
FunktasticLucky
If you're not looking at changing the calipers then there's not much upgrades you can do. The cheapest upgrade would probably to grab the brakes off a 2017+ 3.0T MKZ or a continental. The calipers are dual piston and the rotors are 13.5 inches. If you're wanting to go Full on crazy upgrade like I'm debating then TCE makes a direct bolt on kit with Wilwood 6 Piston Calipers and 13 or 14 inch rotors, pads and stainless steel braided lines as well as the adapter brackets and all the necessary hardware. It's under the Fusion 13+ Tab. That gets pricey though. But I'm seriously considering it. Good luck with your future plans no matter the path you take. drolds1
Drilled and slotted rotors are not going to give you any noticeable difference in braking performance in a street-driven car. In fact, drilled rotors have been known to develop cracks around the holes. If you're looking for modest improvements, look at some of the high-performance street pads like EBC.
