Continue to impress

I now have about 9,000 miles on my 2017 MKZ 3.0 T about 3,000 of the miles are mine and I continue to be quite impressed with this car! I have to be honest I really can't find anything I don't like about the car. Yes I have a few small issues I am working out with the car but as far as every driving category I can think of this car is just fantastic! Actually I can't get it away from my wife! She has a 50 mile drive to and from work every day and she asks me if she can take it several days per week.

My sister owns a new 5 series BMW I can't recall the exact model number off hand but it has the 4 cylindar turbo and AWD. Several people in my family have compared both cars and all agree they like my 17 MKZ better. The only thing I like about the BMW is there seems to be more space in the front and rear seat area not a problem for some but my big frame likes the extra space.

I am super excited to get my 2018 MKZ this year. I test drove one without the drivers package for like 20 min ago fell in love with it. Ordered one the week after. The only issue I have is the transmission. Even with a tune it's still not perfect but it is more tolerable. I waited to see if they were going to get an 8 speed but after the rumors started flying about ford killing the sedans I wasn't gonna gamble.

Great choice! The tune will definitely help in the shifting area. It would be great to really be able to slam gears using the paddles, but I don’t find the 6 speed to be all that bad where it is a deal breaker.

Well stock it's just so sloppy and literally feels like it's having trouble shifting into gear.  I commented about it in my test drive and the salesman mentioned Livernois.  I played super dumb about it and then he ended up letting me drive his personal MKZ with a tune and it's night and day how it handles.  Still could be better but yeah it's definitely a different beast.  She's got a scheduled birthday of June 5th so hopefully I'll have it before my birthday on the 3rd.

  • 3 weeks later...

personally I like the 6 speed over a 8 speed. if the current 6 speed seems like it doesn't know how to shift right, imagine how it would feel with 2 more gears.

8 speeds just seem to constantly feel like you're on and off the throttle. At least all the 8 speeds I have driven do.

Ford isn't known for their legendary transmissions in a positive way, that's for sure.

Hope you get to enjoy your new baby soon.

BTW, your salesman wouldn't happen to be Skip would it?

Nah. His name isn't skip.

The car is scheduled to be built next week on the 5th. As soon as I get comfirmation she's built I'll start selling off my other vehicles to pay for the lincoln's paint work and ceramic coating. I'm getting super excited now that it's getting close. It's only been 2 months so far but it feels like an eternity.

Courious when you bought yours. Ordered mine on March 20th and it is supposed to be built this week.

Also, have you tried tracking it through cotus or etis? The only thing that has worked for me is a window sticker search. My window sticker showed up on the 17th.

I haven't actually checked into anything since I found the build date is June 5th.  I ordered my car on April 3rd and had a VIN in less than 2 weeks.  Dunno when the Window sticker was generated.  My dealership just called this morning and wanted to inform me my car was scheduled to be built early next month and estimated delivery is June 19-25.  Which I already knew LOL.  While I had him on the phone I asked him to email me the window sticker.  I'm fortunate to be near a railway so my car will show up direct from Hermisillo right down the street from the dealership.  They will put several miles on it bringing it to the Dealership to check out and inspect and then I'll go do all the paperwork and finance and all that jazz.  It's getting close and I honestly can't wait to get the vehicle in.  As soon as I receive it I'll be taking it down to Kansas City to have a shop do the paint correction and apply Feynlab Self Heal Plus+Topcoat to the car.  I'm still debating on Opticoating the interior since it's a Chalet Theme.  But we can always decide on that at another time.

bce and Funktastic, you guys are gonna absolutely LOVE your cars when you get them. I have mine for 13 months now and I swear I love it more every day in every way...looks, comfort, features, ride/handling, and most of all, the power! Seriously, my favorite car I've ever owned, and that includes BMWs and Cadillacs.

You'll see for yourselves soon enough!

It’s getting closer! Etis shows build date for yesterday and the owner site shows the last sync update as today.

How'd you get Etis to even show. Nothing ever comes up with my VIN. Hopefully we are good to go next Tuesday and I'll have my car by the end of the month.

I created an account and just entered my VIN. Until Friday, it had been showing the bogus build date. I used my Edge to check etis access and it showed everything about it.

I also had the print date on my window sticker change on Friday as well. That’s the third time it has changed.

Ah that was the key. I had to BS an account and log in to get the info.

It just updated today about 30 min ago. The car got pushed one day. It will be built tomorrow. Looks like I'm actually getting a Wednesday car! Hopefully I don't have to wait too long for delivery. The good thing is I live in Omaha Ne. The cars get dropped off directly in the rail yard and the dealer just goes and picks them up.
