Izzy3906
The dealer I go told me also that the nuts had to be replace, they said they were swollen. They wanted 160.00. I just got aftermarket ones and replaced them myself.

Are you also outside your warranty period Izzy? if not, the lug nuts should be replaced under warranty. JoeBrown

The factory warranty just expired in Feb but I do got an extended warranty and still they wanted 160.00 dollars.
bbf2530
The factory warranty just expired in Feb but I do got an extended warranty and still they wanted 160.00 dollars. Hi Izzy. Is it the Lincoln ESP Plan or a third party extended warranty? If it's third party, you would usually be out of luck. If it's a Lincoln ESP Plans there are various coverage levels. The only one that might cover something like lugnuts would be the top tier, PremiumCare ESP Plan. Which do you have? Even with an ESP Plan, the service department sometimes need to be gently "reminded" of what is covered. Check your plan coverage. I'm not stating it will cover lugnuts, but it's worth checking. jmcgliss
An exclusion from warranty coverage could be based on a claim the chrome cover is "cosmetic". Edit: Rebuttal: swelling of the outer shell prevents a lug wrench or socket from fitting over the nut, which is a functional defect. Edit: conjecture Edited May 7, 2018 by jmcgliss
bbf2530
The exclusion from warranty coverage could be claiming the chrome cover is "cosmetic". Hi jmcgliss. It is more complicated than simply the chrome cover being "cosmetic". Just one example: Izzy is not claiming the chrome is pitted and doesn't look good (cosmetic). The Dealer told him they are "swollen", which can cause further damage and therefore they are not doing the job properly. I am not saying they are covered, but he needs to check what his particular extended warranty does and does not cover, since Dealerships do make mistakes. One way or another, without knowing the provider and type of extended warranty Izzy has, it is all Internet conjecture at this point. But checking can't hurt anything. Hope that makes sense. jmcgliss

bbf2530
Its from a third party. Hi Izzy. Again, not sure what your coverage is (e.g. only powertrain etc.). Did you check your warranty coverage contract (or call the warranty company) to ensure whether you were or were not covered? It's worth a try. Let us know how you make out and good luck. Andy P
My dealer recommended getting a set of aftermarket lugs because the OEM ones will swell, preventing use of the OEM tire changing equipment.
Viking
Amazon sells McGard sets of four to a package, so need five packages, or four and a package of wheel lock nuts. These are available for a very reasonable price, especially at the .com site. I bought from the .ca and even here they were just $60 for 20 nuts. I am very happy with the quality.
