Black Ice MKZ
As I was performing my own detail of my recent purchase ('15 MKZ 3.7 AWD) I found stickers for the Lo-Jack system as well as a pamphlet in the glove compartment. Has anyone ever used this system and would you recommend I update the account info? I am not sure exactly how the system works and what modifications it has to the vehicle's on-board telemetry or electronics. I remember back in the day when having a "Lo-Jack" system installed cost a lot of money because they can "track your vehicle's where-abouts if stolen" I wouldn't mind having that extra security but not at the expense of having to worry about any onboard electronics. Thank you
R2D2
I have had them on some past cars when I lived and worked in the New York Metro area. Anyway, here is a link to their contact info. Give them a call and see what you got, they register the devices by the VIN number of the car. The electronics is already in the car so what do you have to lose. :) http://my.lojack.com/ Edited May 2, 2018 by R2D2
drolds1
Your car has an embedded modem and you could use the My Lincoln Way app to track your car. Of course, it's not going to be integrated with local police, etc. There's no monthly charge for Lo-Jack. You'll have to ask them how much it costs to register as a second owner. That could be somewhat offset by an insurance discount. If you are the second owner of a vehicle equipped with a LoJack® Stolen Vehicle Recovery System, welcome! For second owners, we offer: • A complete inspection* of your LoJack® Stolen Vehicle Recovery System to confirm that it is working (an inspection fee may apply) • Re-registration of the LoJack® unit in your name, which is imperative for optimal customer service • A new LoJack Identification Card • An Installation of LoJack® Stolen Vehicle Recovery System Form that may enable you to reduce your premiums on the comprehensive portion of your auto insurance. Contact us at 1-800-4-LOJACK (1-800-456-5225) to learn more about our Second Owner packages. *Inspections do not warrant or guarantee that products working at the time of inspection will continue to work. Second Owner programs and pricing are subject to change by LoJack Corporation without notice.
Black Ice MKZ
Thank you for all the info folks...I'll contact them and weigh the costs/vs insurance. As for the embedded modem, just need to get the recall done first. :)
