2014 3.7 throttle response

Recommended Posts

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this issue: Backing up out of driveway into street, stop, put in Drive and the gas pedal seems dead for a couple seconds before moving forward. Drive by wire issue or a throttle response issue?

Hi Mcondo. Hard to say. Do you have throttle response issues at any other time while driving (other than from a stop), or is it only right after shifting into drive or reverse from a stop? Does it still lag or feel dead even after you actually feel the car has shifted into your chosen gear? Is this something which has just begun to occur lately, or has it been that way since you owned the car?

Today's cars with their electronic connections between the shifter and transmission can seem to have a slight lag compared to the days of direct mechanical connections.

According to whether this is something new and how severe the lag actually is, you may want to have your Dealer look into it. Keep us updated and good luck.

Re throttle lag - no issues other than from reverse to drive. Standing start in D or S no lag. Have the lag since purchasing car. Frankly, my recently traded A6 did the same thing - drove me nuts. I think the A6 was drive by wire as you could not brake torque the car - gas pedal went flat for a couple seconds when you let off the brakes. (I need to try to brake torque the MKZ and see if similar issue)
