Black Ice MKZ
what are you guys using for a sun shade when parked? Or a dash mat? I know a speaker parked right under the windshield is a recipe for cracking...I use those 2-fold out sun shades but the windshield is so long they hardly reach the sun visors. I was thinking of a dash mat, but hate to cover the speaker...especially my beloved THX-II speaker! Airflow
bbf2530
Hi Black Ice. This is what I use for both my MKZ's: https://www.covercraft.com/us/en/product/uvs100-custom-sunscreen.UV They are custom fit, even down to whether you have the lane keeping system sensors on the rear view mirror. I have the silver models. You can also purchase a custom vinyl storage bag for $8. Good luck. fusionff
I always get the Covercraft UVS100 for my vehicles. I can't imagine a better fitting sunscreen being available. I had one for my MKZ weeks before I picked up my car. Airflow

dwonder
Is this for the 2017 / 2018 model? I ask because doesn't the sonar tint eliminate this possible problem? :-/

The Covercraft link I posted can be used to access and purchase any model year. The tint slightly helps, but does not eliminate the problem. Good luck. FunktasticLucky
I know this is an older thread but what posts on the MKZ forum isn't. Anyways, the other more expensive method is 3M Crystalline window tint. 80 percent tint on the full windshield is 50 percent solar energy rejection and obviously UV and IR protection (Though it's very hard to find what wavelength range it blocks in). I found a place in NC near my brother that is authorized to install it and they are like 1/3 the cost of everyone else because it's in a poorer county. I think they said it would be 350 dollars to do the sides and rear at 40 percent. I'll let you all know in September if it's as good as they say it is. jimflutes
I would go with the window sunshades , I have not seen a dash mat that would look good on the Z , the dash looks too good to be covered .
Chris109
I'm surprised they don't have a power sunshade for the front like they do for the back window of some Lincolns. Wow. I think I should get out my pad and paper and come up with some plans. $$$
