drolds1
She says that MKZ will get a name. IDK if this means that there will be a replacement or that they'll just the name of the current car before 2020 with no replacement. http://www.motortrend.com/news/lincoln-chief-joy-falotico-interview-aviator/ Edited April 14, 2018 by drolds1 Airflow
R2D2
Very nice.... I like the new Aviator, maybe there will be a hybrid version of that in the near future Edited April 15, 2018 by R2D2 Airflow
MKZMark
There will be a plug-in hybrid Aviator. It's good to hear they have plans for the Z and Continental! Airflow
brucelinc
I am pretty sure you will see the replacement for the MKZ with a new name on a new platform - not simply renaming and continuing the current model. Airflow
drolds1
I sure hope so. Rumors a bit back were that there would be no replacement. But those same rumors indicated that the Fusion would be discontinued and hence, no MKZ. Now, it doesn't look like that's going to happen. brucelinc
Look for it on the same platform as the Aviator (CD6). That should mean rear wheel drive which opens up all sorts of possibilities. It will be interesting to see what the name will be. It won't be Zephyr. Airflow
Zalvern
CD6 is said to be quite flexible. Like the future Mustang is said to utilize it. Platform sharing is good as means those minor modders like myself can find aftermarket parts to cross share. It benefits the company in reducing cost. Like Bruce just mentioned, might get some RWD love with optional AWD added on, similar to Kia's Stinger. I continue to hope that Lincoln will adopt a 2 door coupe with a motto like "quiet performance". I love my MKZ and will keep it longer as my daily, but will like something truly street and ride performance with the Lincoln branding. I would like to support Lincoln further that way. The 3.0 is planned to evolve as well. Getting updates similar to what the 3.5L got for its 2nd gen. I thought that it might be my next car if there was no next-gen MKZ. I've been with Ford and Lincoln a long time. Would hate to go because they have nothing to offer the performance fans. I'm not a SUV/CUV guy no matter how good they become.
Airflow
Now that they have announced discontinuing the Fiesta (in America) and Taurus, I would think they need to keep the Fusion along with the Focus. Otherwise they would have only the Focus as a sedan offering. So hopefully that is good news for the MKZ replacement and based on the article looks like it. I wonder what the four new vehicles will be. New MKC, new MKZ, battery electric SUV, coupe?
MKZMark
I think the four she referred to are MKC (to be renamed) Nautilus, Aviator, and Navigator. Aviator and Navigator went way upscale, are/will be sales successes, and I expect and hope the rest of the lineup including the sedans will follow the same formula. Airflow
“We announced that we are going to have two new utilities. This is just one of them [Lincoln Aviator], so we have another one to come. And we have four new vehicles around the corner. So getting those vehicles in the pipeline and getting them to market is clearly a priority.” It’s definitely four additional. Exciting how many! You're right - given they have four SUVs, what could the four new ones be? The Z is definitely due for a full refresh/redesign and there were rumors of a Continental with suicide doors. I hope they go big... Airflow

Actually, the MKX will be renamed Nautilus. The MKC is due for a refresh. That'll probably get a new name as well. You're right - given they have four SUVs, what could the four new ones be? The Z is definitely due for a full refresh/redesign and there were rumors of a Continental with suicide doors. I hope they go big... Maybe a subcompact luxury SUV. It's a pretty hot segment right now and Buick is doing surprisingly well with its Encore which, to me, looks like a potato and is underpowered with its standard engine-138hp. I think Lincoln could do it better. They already have the platform (Ford Ecosport). Airflow
MKZMark
I rented an Encore and it wasn't a bad vehicle. Definitely didn't feel small behind the wheel even though it's tiny. Airflow
