Loose steering wheel recall

Out of the almost 1.5 million vehicles sold, there were 45 actual complaints to the NHTSA.  Not worth losing sleep over it.  Rushing to get it done won't change anything.  More likely to get in an accident with some teenage girl who's texting.

Two accidents; 1½-million cars.  It's not keeping me up at night either.

I had the recall done at the same time they replaced the weak battery - but now my Air Bag Light is illuminated. Work has kept me from going back to the dealer (and have been driving a work vehicle).

Edit: Took the car back and they connected an electrical contact that was not seated. Air Bag Light no longer illuminated.

Went to local Ford Quick Lube for oil change yesterday. They did recall and never told me until I paid. "It's only a small bolt - only takes a minute" per the advisor. Saved me some time as I had an appointment at Lincoln later this month.

I got the notice for my 2014 Fusion but not for my 17 MKZ.

Does anyone know if they ever stated the exact build date range?  My 17 MKZ was one of the last batches to roll off the 17 line.  It was built in August 2017.  I think they re-tooled the line and started assembling 18's in September.

2014-18 Lincoln MKZ vehicles built at Hermosillo Assembly Plant, July 25, 2013 to March 5, 2018

Thanks drolds1

My car was definitely built at that plant during that time but no notice in mail and nothing on my owner page on the Lincoln site about an active recall.   A bit odd.

Same here.  I wonder if they're going by MY or some cars were just not included.  Note the term "some cars"  from this CR article online:

Vehicles recalled: 1,301,986 Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZ sedans:

  • Some 2014-17 Fusion sedans built at Ford’s Flat Rock Assembly Plant in Michigan from Aug. 6, 2013 through Feb. 29, 2016.
  • Some 2014-18 Fusion and Lincoln MKZ sedans built at Ford’s Hermosillo Assembly Plant in Hermosillo, Mexico, from July 25, 2013 through March 5, 2018.

From this, I infer that not 100% of the cars are included.  The mystery continues.  I suppose a call to the Lincoln Concierge might clear things up.

New battery eh?  my 2016 just stranded me recently as the battery would not crank.  roadside assistance provided a boost and tomorrow its going in to test the strength of the cells ( in addition to changing the plastic painted trim around the rear windshield that is peeling)

Not impressed that a 2 year old car has these issues so soon....   Tow driver said there are way to many draws on these batteries these days....
