mikelev Posted February 24, 2018 Share Posted February 24, 2018 I've recently noticed that the gap between the hood and the front fascia (painted part between the grille and the headlight housing) is uneven on my MKZ; the right side is much wider--enough to stick your finger into it--while the left side is reasonably snug. I know it wasn't like that when I got it, but after having some minor repair made on the bumper, this is the way I got it back. The shop tells me that this is the way Lincolns are made...with uneven gaps. I'm not buying it! Does anyone else have uneven gaps in front??? The one on the left looks relatively normal (like the one in the picture in the reply above), but the one on the right has a huge gap that the tip of my finger literally slides into...and I know that's not the way it was when I brought it in for the minor repair. It was a Ford dealership's body shop and when I brought this up to the manager of the shop, he was the one who said that Lincoln does a poor job when their vehicles are made (implying, I suppose, that it's separate from Ford). Those are unequal, but not radically so like mine. The pictures you show are barely noticeable...but I notice the gaps standing way in front of my car. Actually, and I know this sounds ridiculous, but my Lincoln dealer wanted to do the work and I had previously brought two cars to the other Ford dealer, which happens to be a mile from my home (the Lincoln dealer is about 15 miles away); and both times the Ford dealer did extraordinarily spectacular work, so I insisted on bringing the MKZ to them. Mind you, the paint job to the fascia is indeed perfect. It looks outstanding...just like I expected! It's the reassembly that I have the issue with. They had removed the front fascia, grille, headlights, etc, to perform the work, and when reassembling it, it didn't align the way it did before. The manager said I just didn't remember the way it looked when I brought it in 3 days earlier...that it always looked like that...and that Lincoln's consistently have this issue. What he doesn't know is that I have the photographs from the selling dealer of MY CAR that I purchased and it doesn't show the gap!!! No, this car is going to the Lincoln dealership and I want them to re-assemble everything to factory standards and bill the Ford dealer for the cost. Just need to make the appointment to do this and be sure that they have a car for me to use (which they have to anyway). If you're wondering why the car needed the work, it's because it was from up north where they have front license plates...Florida doesn't and when the plate holder was removed it left these four gigantic holes in the front fascia, with a bunch of scratches all around it. To be honest, I've been looking for that "adjustment" since it came home. I did find a rubber stopper under the hood that you can turn to raise or lower, but all that did was make the gap go from enormous to just really big, and at the bottom of the adjustment, the edge of the hood sinks too low on the far edge of the headlight housing.
