2014 key fob battery - where to buy replacement?

Got warning message on front indicating "Key Fob battery low".  Parked in garage now won't start. Need to see if I can buy one from local auto parts place. Any suggestions on auto parts or has to be done via dealer?

Every place has them.  Pharmacy, hardware, Ocean State Job Lot, Wally World...  There are different sizes, so get the multipak.

You can start the car by removing the rubber section of the console (drink holder area) and placing the FOB down in there.  I believe there is a semi-cutout area (square) where to place it.  Then, start the car.

jm98,

The batteries used in the key fob are two CR2025 batteries.  These are usually available at any Walmart/drug store/electronics store.  I have changed many batteries in the FOB over the years and it is easy.  The procedure can be found on page 49 of the 2014 manual.

Also you know you can start the car without the need for batteries in the FOB.  The FOB has an RFID tag in it that if placed correctly in the car will allow it function.  You have to pull up the rubber cup holder in the middle console and then you see a little cut out for where the FOB goes.  This is on page 140 of the manual.

All the best

BTW...even though the OP has solved their battery problem...

they are also carried by Home Depot in a 2-pack

Also make sure you change both batteries in each fob, the 2nd one is below a label and the positive  (+) sides face each other. Reinstall the label between the batteries.

If you are changing the batteries in one for you might as well change them in both

I know that a warning is issued when the batteries are low. Can anyone tell me how long the key fob batteries lasts?

I got the warning on my primary fob about after about 4 years. Please note I don't use the fob buttons much, I just keep it in my pocket.

As I recommend in my Feb 9 post above, I changed both batteries in both of my fobs.

I just got the message on one fob last week so I guess that one lasted a little over 3 years or so.

I checked the batteries in the other one and they are good on volts.

Don't be fooled by just reading voltage on a button battery... if your first fob is giving you a warning, better to change them all....

BTW did you read the posts above, there is a 2nd battery in each fob

Yeah, saw the 2nd battery and the unusual polarity stacking.  Paid a buck each for Sony batteries at local "hardware / salvage" shop next to Office Depot.  Check expiration dates.  The 2025's I picked up are good till 2027.

I'm taking my chances with the multi-meter and waiting for the system to warn me.  We're talking 7500 miles or less a year with 2 fobs.  Not worried and I've got an extra set in my desk ?
