From Ford Customer Service:

The music files cannot be extracted from the Jukebox in one vehicle and then transferred to another. I also confirmed that the system wasn't designed to be able to download to a flash drive either.

How did you get the music into the Jukebox in the first place?  I'm not familiar with how the system works.

can you explain more ? what u mean put in a cd directly into thr juke box ? and how fo i rip it ? HDD >>>??

He didn't say that.  He said "put in a CD and rip it directly into the jukebox," which is how you record into the jukebox in the first place.

You might also proofread your posts, as it's a little difficult to figure out exactly what you're saying.

It's quite simple.  You insert a CD and just hit the 'Record' button that appears on the screen.

So... let me get this straight.  You "theoretically" own the CDs you used to record to your jukebox.  Now you want that music transferred to a flash drive or SD card for use in your new non-jukebox MKS.  Why?  Just erase the Jukebox and re-rip the CDs to your computer as MP3s and copy them to a flash drive or SD card.  From what these guys are telling you, you can't make a copy of your Jukebox. :zombi:

Hmmm. Thanks.  Were there problems with the HDDs in those systems?  I wonder why they got rid of 'em.

My best guess would be a combination of HDD-failures and the fact that these HDDs cost money. But to be fair, considering that almost everybody has some sort of smartphone or MP3-player AND the fact that you can do anything the jukebox could simply by using an ordinary USB-stick, offering systems with a built in HDD can be considered outdated. Chrysler used to offer systems with integrated HDDs as well - those are gone, too.

And the problem the OP is facing is also a direct result of this "one-way storage".

I don't know of any HDD failures.  I had a 2010 and my current 2012.  I never had a single problem with either of them.  But you're essentially correct.  It's just outdated.  The Jukebox feature was designed before Ford decided to spread Sync so widely across everything. It made sense for cars that didn't have Sync.

I haven't heard of any widespread HDD-issues, either - so I should have said potential HDD-failures. It's just an additional piece of hardware that could fail and if it fails (under warranty), it can turn into a costly repair. Even getting to the HDD is labor-intense.

It’s really a legitimate question and I would also like the answer.  It took me hours to load all my favs from my CDs and set this up.  A couple are hard to find tunes that I downloaded from my friends CDs and I just don’t want to lose it.  It was a lot of work! I need a new car, but have delayed because I want to figure out how to save my music.  Help!

Hi Guest S. This is an old thread and most of the participants (including the OP) have not been active since 2014-2015.

Unfortunately, it seemed there was/is not a viable way to download the music off the hard drive. If the OP ever found out how to, he did not bother to post back with any information.

And according to one of the posts by drolds1, the information he received from Ford Customer Service was: "The music files cannot be extracted from the Jukebox in one vehicle and then transferred to another. I also confirmed that the system wasn't designed to be able to download to a flash drive either."

Good luck.

Hi my friends mkz was just totalled and he would like to get the music off the hard drive. I'm assuming you remove the radio to get to the drive? Once the drive is removed,do you know what interface it uses?

Hi ddawg. Just so you don't think your post is being ignored: To my knowledge, no one on this forum has ever discovered a way to remove music from the hard drive. And as mentioned in the reply above, one of our long time members contacted Lincoln/Ford and was told, "The music files cannot be extracted from the Jukebox in one vehicle and then transferred to another. I also confirmed that the system wasn't designed to be able to download to a flash drive either."

I realize your question is slightly different, as you are asking how to remove the hard drive and then copy/remove music from it. But I think the answer is the same. No one here has performed that task.

I am not saying ti can not be done, only that no one has discussed accomplishing it as of yet.

Perhaps one of our tech members will jump in with more information which may help you.

Keep us updated and good luck.
