jimflutes
Just came back from 150 mile trip and played around with the settings. I saw no difference between ECCO on or off , both read 39.3 . I do feel a slight pickup in the non Ecco mode .
ZeaRay
I haven't compared economy with the mode on vs. off, but there sure is a difference in feel! I wonder if there's an bigger impact during air-conditioning season.
jimflutes
ZeaRay , I feel the same pickup with it off. It does not make sense but that is how it feels .
ZeaRay
ZeaRay , I feel the same pickup with it off. It does not make sense but that is how it feels . Interesting. Mine feels like a different car in each mode. In ECO, mine launches in EV and regen is aggressive. It feels like I'm pulling a trailer. With ECO off, the ICE will start much sooner and with less aggressive regen, the car will coast further. I'm not sure ECO increases efficiency for me, but I've been driving a hybrid for 9 years and probably have muscle-memory for efficient driving anyway. jimflutes
I would say in sport I feel the road more , specifically the bumps , normal feels normal ,comfort soft. Ecco on slower response , Ecco off quicker but Ecco on or off the same mpg. ,that is what I don't understand.
ZeaRay
I'm just guessing here, but I suspect that ECO mode can only help under specific circumstances. In my case, I'm accustomed to hybrid driving styles (including strong regen braking) and I live in a climate with extreme temps. I don't expect ECO mode to help me much. (maybe in summer, but I'll over-ride it if I need lots of air-con) Another issue is that acceleration isn't a top enemy of hybrid economy. Hydraulic braking is, but ECO doesn't have much influence over that - brakes have to work when you need them!
1steven
I've noticed when I use eco mode the car seems to want to go in the 'ev' mode sooner and more frequent than non eco mode while sacrificing car pickup ( ie acceleration)
