drolds1
Do you mean the autolamps or auto high beams?

drolds1
Autolamps. The setting on the light switch for the lights to come on when it gets dark. The little dome on top of the IP is the ambient light sensor for the autolamps. It also doubles as a sunload sensor for the EATC. This was previously discussed here. Chris109
There must be 2 sensors. Was outdoors during the day and covered it. Lights didn't come on. They did come on when I covered that one and also covered the sensor on the rear view mirror. The one on the glass itself. Gonna have to keep experimenting. MKZMark
On a related note, the auto high-low beams caused someone to think I was trying to get them to pull over. It was on a twisty back road and every time their taillights disappeared around a corner they went on high, every time the taillights re-appeared they went back to low. Not sure if I can stop this behavior temporarily without disabling it.
drolds1
Just turn the switch from "Auto" to the regular headlamps On position. The system only operates in the Autolamp setting. That or keep your speed below 31mph. SWITCHING THE SYSTEM ON AND OFF Switch the system on using the information display.See Information Displays. Switch the lighting control to the autolamps position. See Autolamps. R2D2

I remember guys who used to cover the sensor to make the headlights go on during the day; jury-rigged DRLs, if you will. I just can't believe that my 2000 Mitsushitsi Eclipse has its lights that can stay whenever the car is started, but a fancy Lincoln doesn't have that ability. Are you saying headlights or DRLs? for headlights just rotate that switch back counterclockwise one notch regardless of the sensors. I see you have a 2013... not all 2013s came with the DRLs turned on from the factory, you may have to see your dealer to activate them. Chris109
drolds1, this is why someone thought you were called 'droids', cause the other poster is R2D2. I was one of them until you clarified. :)

Just want to turn on the car and go, and turn the car off and not have to listen to the dinging as a reminder to turn them off. Just lazy. I don't hear any dinging when I turn off the car and the light switch is on "A" for Autolamps. I leave it there 24/7. Oh and I had a 2013 prior to my 2014.... worked the same way Edited December 15, 2017 by R2D2

Oh and I had a 2013 prior to my 2014.... worked the same way No it doesn't chime when it's on auto. I did throw something on the sensor yesterday and the auto's came as if at night. It could be that when I tried it the other day, it was gloomy. It's NY. It's always gloomy. However, because the auto lamps came on, it dimmed the dashboard and control screen as if it were nighttime. And because I dim them all the way for night driving this is just a useless endeavor on my part cause in the daylight I can't see those screens. I'm complicated. That's why I'm still single. :yahoo:
drolds1
Have you looked into getting the DRLs enabled, as suggested earlier? Robert Iggy Cerami
Chris109
Have you looked into getting the DRLs enabled, as suggested earlier? Yeah. There is a dude next to me that does stereos and stuff. Knows all about that. Gonna go thru those mods on that Ford site and see if anything else may be handy. When I had the car in for a minor thing back in Oct. (was missing one of the 'L's, said LINCO N), the Lincoln tech said there was nothing he could do. Wasn't going to argue til I knew all the facts. Soon, tho.
