Chris109
Anyone know what sensor is behind (facing out front window) the rear view mirror? There is an indentation on the driver side of the mirror. Also, with all of the codes, et al, that can be changed, is there one to make the mirrors dim more than they do? Even with the auto-dimming, they still don't darken enough. I miss the old manual switch on the bottom of mirrors that basically makes the lights behind the car become like stars. I was thinking about changing out the mirror cause with the halogens nowadays, auto dimming just doesn't do it.
drolds1
No, there's no owner-configurable setting for the auto-dim mirror. The sensor is a front-facing light sensor.

drolds1
Yes, it's an ambient light sensor. Watch the video. Edited December 5, 2017 by drolds1
4N1M4L
I have a 2010 that has the "guy behind you with his brights on" sensor at the bottom of the mirror, and the middle brake light usually blocks this. I was about to switch out to one that has the sensor in the glass where it was supposed to be, but got hung up trying to figure out where to put the mic after. The microphone in my version is built in to the mirror, and the newer version would require a seperate microphone. i think 2013 was the next platform. drolds1
Some members on the Ford Fusion Forum just turned the mirror upside down. For Job 2 in 2010, they moved the microphone into the headliner to the left of the driver's head. Here's what it looks like: I don't know what the relevance of "2013 was the next platform" in this context is.
