Just got my '14 Pics; evolved into antenna discussion

It took about 4 weeks of shopping after my '08 MKZ was stolen but, I'm extremely happy with my decision. I sell cars for a living but we don't carry many Lincoln's. I nearly settled for something else about a dozen times including a '17 Malibu Premier. It's got 27k miles. Was a pleasant surprise to find out after I got it that it had the contour'd seats and adjustable suspension.

That white looks great.   Be prepared to spend some tire money with those 19's...  I'm on my 3rd set of tires at 85k.

I noticed some MKZ's have the side antenna.  Mine is on the trunk lid.  Is that because of the upgraded stereo?

Curious on the side antenna too. What would be the difference from the trunk antenna.

I have felt that pain already from my wife's Taurus. I could not believe that car tires could cost more then my HD truck. The parts guy explained it was due to the limited number of manufacturer's using the 19" size.

And thank you everyone.

Figured I'd do a quick update for my tastes after my first 1k miles. I'd been shopping for over a month and have tried out everything available to me in that time.  I am loving this vehicle. The car feels very solid near the top in terms of quality even against some of the German makes. I did not drive a BMW or Mercedes but did almost everything else. It fits my large frame very well (6'2 260lbs). Has a good sound system. The fuel economy has been around 25mpg and the ride quality is superb. I do hear a drone noise around 45 mph but have read that is fairly common w/ the AWD. I do feel like its lacking a little power compared to some of the others I considered buying. I would actually say its the least powerful feeling even against the new 2.0T in the Malibu. I was not expecting a speed demon and find it adequate but, just a point I wanted to make.

I decided in favor of the MKZ even though I hadn't driven this iteration. We do have Fusions which I had considered pretty seriously but, finally found this Z I bought.

Just a point of reference, I tried out every other midsize sedan we had including an Infinity G37 AWD, Volkswagen CC/ Passat,  Malibu Premier 2.0T, Impala LTZ V-6, Chrysler 200C V-6 AWD, Chrysler 300C, Dodge Charger AWD R/T, , Nissan Maxima 3.5, Toyota Camry V-6, Honda Accord, and a few of the smaller SUV's like Equnox, Cherokee, Escape, and CRV. I just kept coming back to the Fusion and knew I would be happier with the MKZ.

I gambled and boy did it pay off. I have not felt passion for a car like this since my first new vehicle purchase a 2005 F-150 Lariat FX4.

Know the feeling, I drive my MKZ and don't regret buying it.  Glad your enjoying yours, Long live the MKZ, lol.

Thanks.  I wonder what necessitates that?  Is there a motor on the bottom of the trunk lid (where the antenna is on non-pano roofs)? I believe that the rubber antenna was necessitated due to the opened panoramic roof partially sliding over the rear glass, where the AM/FM antenna is embedded.  The signals may have been partially blocked by the extra glass.  Apparently, they figured it out because it was gone by 2015.

The AM/FM antenna is embedded in the rear glass.  Probably, the signals were partially blocked by the extra glass of the open pano roof partially covering the backlite, causing interference with radio reception.  Apparently, they figured it out because it was gone by 2015.  Good riddance!

Curious on the side antenna too. What would be the difference from the trunk antenna.

The trunk antenna is for Sirius/XM.

That's pretty cool Chris, who knew Amazon had replacment items?  I wish I had bought that Husky floor liner set vs the Weathertech set I have, the Husky has a lot move coverage over that hump just under the front of the seat cushion, that's constantly dirty in my car.
