Since the 2.3L is optional in the MKC. Hmmm...maybe using the 285hp as the base engine makes the $4K jump to the 400hp V6 even harder to swallow - i.e., a disincentive to buy the 3.0. It wouldn't "disincentivize" me. I think that those that know about it and want it would still go for it. Lincoln had promised to further distance the itself from Ford. Offering the 3.0 does that.
