All,

I purchased this unit when I owned my 14 MKZ a few months ago.  I never installed it and now have a 17 and decided to use another option.

I will include the 2 fuse tap adapters I bought to go with this because the wire ends need to be changed to the fuse size in the MKZ.

Should be a simple install for model years 13 through 16.  Although it can work in the 17's another member who had it mentioned it was bit of a pain on the 17's.

$50 OBO shipped from NC.

PM if interested.

Thanks

I looked at this. I noticed it has a motion detector on it. So can it start recording if someone passes the car? Even while parked? And what kinda drain would that put on the battery, if I'm parked at work for hours at a time? I've been curious in something like this, in order to catch any footage of potential damage to my vehicle. Would it work if I have the technology package? Because I already have a big camera below my mirror.

And I'm curious to know, what option did you decide to go for instead?

Not sure if it can do that or not since I never used it, but perhaps Zalvern can chime in as he had it at one point.  Would seem possible as it has wiring for an always on power as well as ACC.

I am going to the Viofo A119S as he and others have recommended.

The problem for 2017+ year models is the rear clip portion of the housing is really hard to get seated correctly. Its easier to leave it off but then it looks tacky with the exposed wires. Also device is limited to only 32gb max. I would seek something with larger capacity for long day parking modes.

For my dash cam, I have it hardwired to a port switching OBII splitter that supplies constant power until I choose when to cut power off. My Radar Detector is also hardwired this way as I dislike fuse taps of any kind. No issues running it 24 hours even as long the battery stays maintained.

I do periodically recharge my batteries with the smart charger C-Tek 7002. This is just good maintaince though.

I had to return my first A119S due to the buttons oddly collasping. But the replacement has been flawless.
