Our 2015 MKZ 2.0l AWD Bronze Fire

Props to our dealer for finding this ultra clean 2015 Bronze Fire. We drove her straight home after lunch to avoid looming rain clouds. It's a 2.0 liter with AWD and heated + cooled seats.  These 19" wheels have been my favorite since the 2013 redesign.

We were surprised how much larger the MKZ is than our 1996 Mustang Cobra (also pictured).  But the two colors look great together. In the shade, the Cobra's Mystic paint shifts from green and purple to bronze and sapphire blue.  Plans to sell the Cobra just became more difficult.

Thanks, longislander. It has about 22,000 miles.  Our dealer's detailing job was excellent. The paint is smooth as glass.

One other factoid...we purchased the MKZ in September 2017 and our Mystic Cobra in September 1996...21 years ago. Don't they look good as a pair?

Did you mean clear coat or something else? All modern cars are painted with a 2-stage process, i e., base coat/clear coat.

The Bronze Fire was I think $ 400.00 more or something around there .. The dealer told me because it had some type of extra clear coat or something different in the paint .. I am aware that all cars have 2 stage paint... . But that was the response I got when I asked why it cost more

The window sticker and brochure say "Bronze Fire Metallic Tinted Clearcoat" at $495 in 2015.

Whereas these two are something else again (per a 2016 window sticker):

Platinum Dune Metallic Tri-Coat

White Platinum Metallic Tri-Coat

I think you are referring to what is called Tri Coat:

The first is a basecoat of color. Next a second coat of transparent color called the midcoat is applied and finally, a coat of clearcoat

They charged extra for that in several colors.

Yes.  I've had a few tri-coats.  They're nice but tricky to repair.  When I got the first one, which was a 2000 Lincoln LS (Ivory tri-coat), I took it over to my collision guy to show it off and he winced and asked me why TF I got that paint job. :thud:  And he's an incredibly talented painter.
