Interesting - and I wonder if the changes are only applicable to AWD systems or if there's something in the suspension that's modified as well. I spent a couple of days looking for SHP cars on Autotrader but couldn't find any for sure.

Hi Laminar. As you can see above, you did seem to ask that question last week. Or maybe your quote above was not phrased the way you intended.

Let's be honest, the question you asked last week, "Interesting - and I wonder if the changes are only applicable to AWD systems or if there's something in the suspension that's modified as well. I spent a couple of days looking for SHP cars on Autotrader but couldn't find any for sure.", is certainly not the same question as what you just asked above - "I wondered if the unique sport tuning affected only the AWD system's stability control/torque vectoring, or if some aspect of the unique sport tuning would benefit a FWD model as well, perhaps with more permissive stability control or adjusted damping rates." Not even close Laminar. And at least I apologized if my post was confusing, something you did not do.

Either way, it certainly leaves room for doubt as to what you were asking, as you claim my answer did.  Perhaps it confused you that I used the word "available" instead of "applicable". And I quoted exactly what the 2014 MKZ brochure mentioned about the "sport tuning", so not sure why you stated it in your quote above like it was news. And I did mention the sport tuning in my reply, which you cherry-pick quoted. Jeez, I even apologized if my post was confusing. So I'm not sure why you are looking to argue with someone who was trying to help you. Attempting to cherry pick short quotes from my longer post won't change the answer.

Anyway, as others have stated, the summer tires will give you ~90% of the SHP benefits. That is what the word "essentially" in part of my answer you quoted refers to. "Which conversely, essentially also means that if you put summer tires on any non-Hybrid, 2014 Reserve AWD with Lincoln Drive Control, it is now a Summer handling Package MKZ". So not 100%, but really close. Sorry that is not the answer you were hoping for, but it is the best answer you will probably get.

So it is extremely doubtful you will be able to tune your suspension by taking the code from a SHP equipped model VIN and attempt to recode your FWD model. Besides not having AWD, you also do not have the torque vectoring system integral to the current Drivers Package. Yes, I see you are also looking for any suspension tweaks.  But the answer is the same. There are differences, but you won't be able to make them  to your FWD MKZ the way you are hoping. Or to put it another way, ask yourself this: How could a FWD model use the same stability control or damping rates as an AWD model? They are two completely different handling dynamics.

I guess you wanted a simpler answer, so how is this...Yes, it is only applicable to the AWD systems. We try to give information which may be helpful to all. You seem to not appreciate the information and help I tried to provide. Therefore, if you want more specific/definitive information, hopefully another forum member will step in and assist you.

Good luck.

So I guess the 2013s are screwed because I just realized I can't change some of the popular settings on my Wifes 13 MKZ.

For the door close doulbe horn honk.

I see the  726-41-01 but there is no 726-41-02.

Are the 13 just a little different?

I have tried the DIgital Speedo on my '16 AWD, but it was in km/hr.  Is there a software update / flash that needs to be done for the IPC to allow this to show up in mph?  Also, should it show up in the central display or in the right display inside of the manual speedo?  When I tried the mod it was located in the right section.

Are dealers the only ones with the capability of updating the IPC or DDM/PPM to latest software?  I saw in an earlier post that  you would "have your dealership use IDS to update your DDM/PDM to the latest software version"  with regards to the reverse dip mirrors if it wasn't working after using forscan to make changes.

Unfortuantely, I was never able to get it to go to MPH. I gave up last week and remove the feature.

For the IDS item, I copied and pasted that from DanMC85 post linked in the first thread. I do not know much about it because it worked fine on my 2015

Hello.

i own a 2016 MKZ Hybrid with original sync 2. I have the parts to change it to sync 3, but the I know the software in the apim must be changed. I have read about this change however there is nothing really about this procedure that I have found regarding the software. I do have questions about this and I was wondering if I could do an upgrade to another year. I have downloaded three different year vehicles, a 2017, 2019, and my 2016 as built Data. I have been comparing the vehicles and I also purchased a 2017 radio cover. I would also like to use this as well.

Can anyone help or know where I can get help?

thank you.

Hello,
Has anyone ever successfully integrated their as-built software with software from a later version? I own a 2016 MKZ hybrid and want to change my sync 2 to sync 3. I bought the proper hardware and have downloaded my as-built software from Ford, but I also downloaded the software for both 2017 and 2019 hybrid vehicles. Another purchase i made is a 2017 MKZ radio cover with the knobs and push button switches. I doubt if the newer cover works with my 2016  Apim software. Additionally, I Want to add the reverse mirror dipping  And auto fold When the vehicle is turned off. There are also other things I would like to have such as the parking lights flashing when a valid key fob is near the vehicle.
i own Factory MKZ hybrid wiring diagrams for the years 2013 to 2019. The biggest difference are some newer modules but none that should make a difference.

Has anyone tried anything like this before using ForScan? Would LIncoln Void my warranty, and would automatic software update not  work? I am almost totally paralyzed, so this keeps my mind going.

thank you.

Hi john-csi. Yes, it has been performed by others and there are multiple threads explaining what needs to be done. Here is one video outlining what needs to be done:

Concerning your MKZ's warranty: If you modify your car to SYNC3, Lincoln will not honor the warranty on any problems you may have with SYNC, the audio system and possibly any electronic/electrical issues you may have later. Essentially anything tyhat can be even remotely connected to the modification.

I am sure one of our tech members may jump in with more assistance.

Keep us updated and good luck.

If your car is still under any warranty then it's not covered if you do the S2 to S3 upgrade.  By now it would be rare anyway.

The upgrade is not that hard, the hardest thing is finding the needed hardware (unless you pay up the nose for 4Dtech to do it. (I think they charge $1400 and up))

Once you have the needed hardware (it should cost about $400 to $600 depending (or even less if you find a great deal)...you can do it, or have someone (like a car audio shop) do it for about $100 (that is what I paid)

and then the $40-$60 for the programing....

it is worth it in the long run... I did it to my 2013FFH to have Sync 3 with nav (from the S2 w/nav), and then my 2018FFH to have Nav (it already had S3)... both times it was cheeper to upgrade than buy it with...  and now of course the MKZ-H has it built in.

Late to the party here, I just bought the OBDLinkEX adaptor and successfully installed the FORScan software and driver.  Unit connects properly.  After 194,000 miles, I figured "why not".

I would primarily like to disable the fake engine noise - is that possible on my 2014 (3.7L)

Hi riff raff. Assuming your MKZ has ANC w/synthesized engine sounds: To disable the synthesized engine sound, you have to disable the ANC (Active Noise Cancellation). Since the synthesized engine sounds only occur during particular acceleration situations, doing so will make the interior of your MKZ louder the rest of the time.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

Ah, thanks, that makes sense.  Not sure my car has ANC.  I have the window sticker in my garage file, would it be listed on that? (bought it used)

Hi riff raff. Okay, sorry if my reply was a bit confusing. If your MKZ is producing Enhanced/Synthesized engine sounds, then it has ANC.

Watch this brief video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0c4a3S6ofdg

Enhanced/Synthesized engine sounds are part of that ANC system. The ANC system suppresses low frequency sounds in the car interior by listening to interior ambient noise via microphones, then broadcasting opposing frequencies via the audio system to cancel certain ambient noises. The system also produces Enhanced/Synthesized (what Lincoln considers "desirable") engine sounds though the audio system.

However, you can not turn off only the Enhanced/Synthesized engine sounds. You must turn off ANC to turn off the engine sounds. But if you turn off ANC, you will have a noisier interior at all other times except for possibly during acceleration (the only time Enhances Engine sounds are produced).

Hopefully that is more understandable?

Good luck.

If my 2014 has ANC, it doesn't work very well!  I think it is my 3.7L motor - it's the loudest I've been in (vs GM/Toyota NA V6's).

I do have what I've always thought was a sensor on top of the center of the dash.

Hi riff raff. Can't speak to how loud you feel your MKZ is or precisely what you see on the top of your dash, but the sensor you are referring to may be the ambient light sensor for the auto headlights. It is not an ANC microphone.

However, if your car is producing Enhanced/Synthesized engine sounds, it has ANC.

In most case, the noise we hear when driving is road noise, not engine actual noise (unless the exhaust is bad). And in many cases, increased road noise can be attributed to worn or old tires (they get hard with age, even if there is plenty of tread). So if you feel your MKZ is excessively loud, you may want to check the tires for wear and age, as the MKZ was rated one of the quietest midsize luxury cars.

Once you have checked your tires, let us know how many miles are on them, how worn they are, and the age of your tires (build date codes are on the sidewalls). Then we can try to help.

In all reality, if they are the original factory tires, they are ~7 years old and ready for replacement, even if they still have sufficient tread. They could/would also be the main cause of any excess noise while driving.

Good luck.

I have an Android phone and downloaded this Sound Meter:  https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gamebasic.decibel&hl=en&gl=US

It works pretty good.  It's the only real way to quantify what is loud or not.  I rest it vertically on the console in front of the cup holders when I want to use it -- and turn off the radio. ?

I also have an Android tablet that I installed the program in.  By comparing the 2 devices I was able to, more or less, "calibrate" them for a reasonably accurate reading.

Haven't done it in a while but my Hybrid is the quietest (high 60db's) on good asphalt and in the high 70db's when beating the squirrels in the cage to get on the freeway on cement pavement.

Depending on which audio system you have, the ANC microphone is located in the overhead console or in the headliner.  The sensor on the top of the IP is an ambient light sensor.

FINALLY!!! ?

I upgraded my Sync2 to Sync3 back in January, and have been stuck with a heated steering wheel button on the home screen and having to dig through the climate settings to turn on my heated seats. Using DanMc85's spreadsheet and FORScan.org, I was able to get rid of the stupid door honking when closing the door while idling, changing the panic button from one press to two, change the auto turn signal from 3 flashes to 5, and get rid of the heated steering wheel button (don't have that option installed)!! Had to "disable" the power flow app (which I never use) because if you don't, the heated/cooled seats won't show on the home page. Got it disabled, but was stuck with my display splash screen showing a Ford. After 4 tries, it finally got the hint, and stayed a Lincoln. Man, summer is going to be a LOT better without having to dig through the menu to turn on the cooled seats... ?

Edit: D'OH!!! Got in the next morning, and am greeted by Ford splash screen. Back to the grindstone...

Edit 2: Found 2 items both in the APIM settings (not "as-built" menu). One, the brand was set to Ford. Switched that to Lincoln. Two, the splash screen was set to the 2nd option, which was something like "uknown" or something along those lines. Switched that to Black Label. Wrote after both changes, and now the splash screen is showing up properly as a Lincoln.... Black Label. Don't mind that much, at least it's Lincoln. Will post again if this change doesn't stay.
