pictone Posted June 10, 2017 Share Posted June 10, 2017 I just leased a 2017 MKZ. It is running Sync 3 version 2.0 build 16074. I noticed that some other Lincoln models are running version 2.2. When I check for updates via wifi it fails every time. The Lincoln owner site says that I'm up to date, however the "date last checked" is October 2016. Just the wifi doesn't seem to have it "official". I got my Sync 3 force updated by the dealership after requesting it along with a variety of module updates. Turned car off and opened door and then saw a notice software updated. Went to settings on car and checked software version and this is what I saw Dealer not needed and nothing Deleted. Apparently there aren't any map updates for Sync3 yet. When you go to Lincoln Owner, Map Update and enter 2017 MKZ, it says that you have the latest maps-check back later. I then tried the Ford Map Update Store for the 2016 Ford Edge. My S-I-L has one and it has Sync3. Same result. I guess we'll have to wait on this one but they'll probably do it via wi-fi also-- after you pay for the file first. Is there a way to go back!?!? I have no issues with my album arts. But I stream via Bluetooth however. Did you put the update files on the same Drive stick with your album arts? It is best to use a drive stick that only has the vehicle's update files on it, and avoid mixing it with anything else. Try the factory master reset in the Sync 3 settings. I'm trying to find a way to downgrade back to version 2.0. Does anyone know where to find the zip file for that version? I'm saving a master reset as a last resort... Music files on a USB drive were showing up perfectly before hand, but now the majority of songs show a photo of the artist (rather than the album cover) or a generic pair of headphones with the name of the genre. It seems maybe v2.2 is forcing Sync 3 to use Gracenote to manage album art. Even if you disable it in settings. Hopefully this is a "bug" that will be fixed with the next update. Some are reporting that it is showing album art or a picture of a completely different artist. But all was perfect on v2.0. I want to go back... Zalvern Posted June 12, 2017 Share Posted June 12, 2017 (edited) After looking into it, and if one wants to roll back as update, the APIM will need a "reformatted" back to the factory built files. This will require Ford IDS service work, so the average person will just have to make the request to the dealership for assistance. I would contact your dealer, explain the situation and hopefully get a no cost service to roll back the APIM to version 2.0 as it came from the factory. It's either that or wait till the next Sync 3 update comes along and hopefully addresses the issue. This would be something like version 2.3 or so. Such is the life with software... I have studied the songs that display correctly and compared with those that don't. I can't seem to find any differences or anything that stands out in the file properties that would cause one to not display all its artwork. All of my music is in .mp3 or .m4a format with the album art (.jpg) embedded directly in each file. That's how my laptop, tablet, smartphone, or TV can play the tracks and display the artwork. And all the ID3 tags are in the same format. ID3v2.3. So I'm really confused. I'm going to keep my eye on these other forums with users having the same issue. I really don't want to have to take it in just for that. I will wait until my next scheduled service appointment. Unless I notice other things wrong in the next day or so... But like you, I also enjoy a challenge. LOL. I'm actually happy that you did that. My plan was to contact Lincoln Concierge about that today. But I'm glad others see the exact same issue that I (and others on other Lincoln/Ford/Sync forums) am having. But that's the same issue. I have ~10,000 music files. I'm getting random artwork displayed. Sometimes it's a stock photo of the artist (not the album), sometimes it's a generic pair of headphones with the name of the genre (which is also incorrect), or other times its a picture of a different artist/album altogether. I'm happy to know Lincoln is aware of the problem. And I know it's not my files. I usually purchase digital music from Amazon.com or iTunes. But in cases where I manually rip a CD to mp3s, I Google search for a decent picture and embed the .jpg image within each file. The artwork displays properly on my smartphone, tablet, laptop, and my smart TVs. So the problem is definitely in Sync 3 v2.2. I'm wondering if "Gracenote has not been updated" is supposed to mean that "Nothing's changed with Gracenote...it must be a problem on the part of the user." Or should that be interpreted to mean Gracenote is going to update something on their end in order to fix this? Hmmm... At any rate, I was going to show up at a Lincoln dealer early tomorrow morning...around 7:00 am when they open. And see if they're willing to re-install Sync 3 v2.2 and see if it fixes the problem, because a master reset didn't. And if they can't/won't, I'll ask them if they can reprogram my APIM back to factory settings with v2.0 when everything worked fine. I hope they find a fix soon. IraF Posted June 13, 2017 Share Posted June 13, 2017 I know a little about computers and I tried Nero, Roxio and Windows Media Player and came up with the same result, everything was correct in the car, Artist, Song, Contributor(s) except the album cover although it did display the correct artist, but yet the same thumb drive when inserted into laptop did display the correct art work. FYI, the album I used for ripping actually comes as a 2 cd set, two many songs to fit onto 1cd (22 songs), however with overburning I was able to get all 22 onto 1cd. if you were to see the cd, front cover as shown in picture 3 and the inside using roxio are the 22 songs listed and time., I did take the album cover and split it in two as for labelling the cd since I could not find the cd label Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I'm at a Lincoln dealer now. They made a case for me. The service tech. assured me that Lincoln will probably be "pretty quick" about sending out an update/fix, since it seems it's purely a software issue. I told them about this forum and several other Ford/Lincoln/Sync forums where a dozen folks are having the same issue. And it always occurs after updating to v2.2 of Sync 3. I hope a fix comes soon, because I'm OCD about my music collection. I'll use the Android Auto interface for a few months until then...
