Found fellow MKZ owners

I purchased our 2013 MKZ in July. Love the Hybrid and am getting about 39 miles over the life of the car. Love the technology. Don't care for the GPS system, though it might be that I'm to much in love with my Garmin. Seems to be the weak link in the car. Just not very good. Anyone else have the same feeling?

My MKZ has the Pioneer system. $200 a year to keep it updated. I recently bought a Garmin with lifetime maps and traffic for $189. I bought it mainly to use in my other car and rental cars, but I'm now wondering why I should bother to update the nav in the MKZ.

Here is what I reported to Lincoln Consumer Service regarding the navigation system. My letter was never acknowledged or responed to.

"It should also be noted that for a Luxury car, Navigation information is basic and inadequate when compared to GPS devices from Tom Tom , Garman and others.  Most of the customers that Lincoln is reaching out to should have the luxury equipment they are investing in. The Navigation device should provide Real Speed in Real Time, Time of Departure, Time of Arrival. Miles traveled, average miles traveled per hour, miles left to travel, miles to next turn and altitude, as well as the data obtained through the Sirius Service. The Navigation system should also have an address book to enter locations without having to go through entering the information for setting up a route."

I've had my car since April 2013 ,which had been ordered in August of 2013. and have had no problems.

Glad I'm not alone in this regard. Navigation is very weak compared to other systems.

I would offer that the aftermarket GPS units are typically better than any factory installed GPS.  My 2013 MKZ GPS blows away the GPS in my prior 2011 Acura (considerably more expensive than my MKZ) and my current 2011 Jeep.  The Magellan GPS I have in my iPhone (for when I rent a car) has many better features than any factory installed GPS I have ever had.  However, I like the big screen of the factory installed GPS.
