fusionff
Here is a peek at the 2018 MKZ Fleet Sales Brochure. It looks like some changes to exterior color choices, not much else though. I'm hoping the 2018 BL is available in Rhapsody Blue, with a choice of wheels, like the Drivers Package wheels on the Reserve. The 2018 Order Guides have been added to post # 22. The 2018 Lincoln MKZ Build & Price is now up! Edited October 31, 2017 by fusionff drolds1 and Robert Iggy Cerami
longislander
This is great! Thank you! Glad they kept the Magnetic. The Blue Diamond looks promising. Edited May 5, 2017 by longislander
Zalvern
Oh dang. They retired Diamond Black Metallic already? It pops much better than Black Velvet in the sunlight and especially after being cleaned and waxed. Well now, that makes my MKZ even more special to me! Not the first time they did a 1 year paint job... Dark side Metallic Fusions from 2014 was a sweet color and sad to see it dropped. drolds1
Thanks for posting. Do they proofread this stuff? Under 'Interior Colors, ' it's Touring White, not Towing White. :giggle: KenZ
Airflow
Looks like the 9 speed auto doesn't come out until at least 2019. That would have bugged me if I missed it by a few months especially because it will mean even quicker acceleration.
dwonder
Good find. I was wondering when the new model stuff would start showin up. Just for me to view because I'm completely happy with my '17. And yea, that Rhapsody Blue interior is something to behold :-) Edited May 5, 2017 by dwonder
jmcgliss
Thanks for posting. Interesting that Jade Gray remains as an interior color but not exterior. It seems to be a small percentage of dealer stock (within a 100 miles radius of Chicago).

But now while the GM Malibu is showing the 9-Speed to be nice, it isn't necessarily up to the power and torque levels the 3.0T demands (in meeting OEM durability, as they will never want to push a street car to it's limits). I figure the the 3.0T won't get a 9 speed that is performance built until the new MKZ name and platform are running, an all new vehicle basically. By then, more performance versions of 9-Speeds will be likely. Personally, my hope is Lincoln will adopt the Mustang platform for a 2 door coupe, bringing us means of getting "a Black Label Mustang" aka Starstang. Airflow
Lincoln should definitely add a coupe back into its portfolio. I wonder what they will release next now that the Navigator production version is out. Probably the Aviator SUV replacement, but teasing a coupe would be great. newlinux
Is this all the colors, even for a black label? If so it looks like my Chroma cabernet red metallic exterior and vineyard interior are gone...

Under 'Interior Colors, ' it's Touring White, not Towing White. :giggle: I'm sure when they distribute these catalogs, it will all be proof read. At least I hope so. Looks like the 9 speed auto doesn't come out until at least 2019. That would have bugged me if I missed it by a few months especially because it will mean even quicker acceleration. I can't see the 9 speed trans being offered on the MKZ at all. When the MKZ replacement Lincoln sedan is available in 2020 (?), the 9 speed trans will for sure be on board. Even the 2018 Continental still gets the 6 speed trans. With the 2017s, Diamond Black Metallic was exclusive to Black Label. Maybe it will pop up once the 2018 Black Label brochures show up? Is this all the colors, even for a black label? If so it looks like my Chroma cabernet red metallic exterior and vineyard interior are gone... The Black Label will for sure have different exterior colors available, most likely an exclusive Black and others (existing or new). I am hoping for new BL interiors, at least one or two new themes anyway, as I would love to order a 2018 BL, but just not happy with the car colors or themes available. I am hoping for a MKZ BL Rhapsody Blue exterior and Rhapsody Blue interior theme. All of the 2018 MKZ model equipment and options should be available in about 5 weeks (Mid June), hopefully a bit sooner though.

Maybe it will pop up once the 2018 Black Label brochures show up?Diamond Black Metallic was only available to Black Label or those who get Driver's Package (Reserve trim) for max performance. Airflow's MKZ is a Reserve trim but Diamond Black Metallic since he opt for Driver's Package. But yes it is possible it is now only a BL exclusive paint choice. Just seems confirmed not even Driver's Package can get Diamond Black. Interesting Rhapsody is a regular paint choice (2 blues now). That could be hinting Rhapsody theme is an option for the MKZ. I may have chosen Rhapsody, but I have no regrets for my 2017 Vineyard w/Diamond Black. Edited May 5, 2017 by Zalvern
Robert Iggy Cerami
Dose anyone know when the build date starts for the 18.. lease is coming up on my 15 and need to order my new MKZ in the next few weeks...
drolds1
They're still taking orders for 2017s for a few more days. The order banks for the 2018s open 6/12. Scheduling begins 7/13 and production begins 9/4. See your dealer for information. I wouldn't expect to see cars delivered until the Fall. Do you have a Ford Red Carpet lease? They should have contacted you several months ago. IDK about your dealer, but my leasing manager gets in touch with me 3-4 months before lease end b/c he knows that I only factory order my cars. Lincoln has a lease "pull-ahead" program in which they'll cover (up to) your last three payments if you lease another Lincoln. Robert Iggy Cerami
Yes my sales guy got a hold of me last week...I have a red carpet lease and also enrolled in Lincoln miles and should have about $ 250 -$ 300 coupon for coming in a little under my lease miles .. But that's like getting a tax return it still your money you paid in advance and they were just holding it for you ....
jmcgliss
Thanks for this information. We are in the process of interviewing Lincoln dealers to see who is informed and forthcoming about the order cycles.

jmcgliss
When I searched for '18 info on Monday, I found numerous "reports" like that one that were just blogs - all written in a vague manner. Click bait, I suppose, now that the 'net has been monetized.
Blackbr
I'm expecting an MPG benefit from the 9 speed as well. For both ecoboost 4's I've owned (1.5, 2.0) they got greatly better mileage at 60-65 than 70-75. Not true for any car, I drove a six cylinder TLX with a 9 speed and easily averaged 35mpg at 75. longislander
Thanks fusionff for this great info! That Blue Diamond looks like a great color. The "Magnetic Package" is a good idea as an appearance upgrade, especially at the Premiere trim level. I also see they added the power trunk lid to the Select Plus package. All in all a nice bunch of changes to an already very nicely packaged car! Edited July 1, 2017 by longislander
Zalvern
So Diamond Black Metallic truly is retired. While they list Black Velvet "Metallic"...it isn't anywhere near Diamond Black's. Glad I got that paint job, being a one year wonder! There won't be any major changes until the new platform change over I feel. So won't see that till around 2020 or so. Any future vehicles I'll pay for must have both port and direct injection going on and improved transmission technology, but my 2017 MKZ will keep its special place. Magnetic Package seems to give the appearance of the Driver Package minus the actual performance upgrades and painted calipers. I don't know how well the performance packages will fair for long, as my local Lincoln dealership has literally sold 0 Driver's Package equipped MKZs and only 2 FWD 3.0Ts. The one 3.0T AWD w/Driver's Package the dealer has been just sitting since it arrived. Sedans overall are losing their interest... jmcgliss
Airflow
I am happy to see Driver's Package is still available and hope they put more power and performance capability into the next gen car. There are big profits to be made from performance focused vehicles and if the capability and looks are there people will buy. It just takes those factors along with consistency. They should wow everyone with a 500hp version of the next gen Z with some aggressive looks. I'd be in. jmcgliss
