Just got mine last week. Does the fuel door always remain unlocked? I locked the doors but was still able to open the filler door.

Yup.  Our fuel doors don't lock.  I guess Ford doesn't think anyone will try to mess with the fuel tank on a Lincoln.  :headscratch:

If you're worried about tampering or siphoning,  there's little chance of that with the capless inlet system.  In order to introduce anything into your fuel tank, they'd first need the special funnel that's included with the car.

Locate the portable funnel that comes
with your vehicle. The funnel is located
behind the left-hand side rear seat,
under the carpet. Fold down the
left-hand side rear seat back. Pull back
the piece of carpet to access the funnel.

There's little likelihood of anyone who's looking to cause random mayhem walking around with one of those.  WRT to siphoning, modern cars are already difficult to siphon from.  Anyone looking do that nowadays just punches a hole in the tank from underneath.  You can't really prevent that anyway.

Ford sells a locking fuel plug for the capless filler but they don't seem to list one for 2013-2014 MKZ.  Ask your dealer if there's any updates on this.

Whats with the poor mileage? I am only getting 16.8 mpg. with combined driving. When on the highway, I check and it's only around 17+ mpg. I now have a little over 800 miles  on the car. Love the engine but the mileage is nowhere what they state.

We took my wife's 2013 AWD Ecoboost MKZ from Pittsburgh to Carlisle, PA for the All Ford Nationals, this past weekend.  although most travel was highway on the PA Turnpike, speeds were what the traffic would bear, usually 80 MPH, rising to 90 in spots.  There were three people and luggage on board.  Round trip mileage was 29.4.  The car has 9000 miles on it.  I thought that was pretty good for AWD.

Just drove my 14 with900 miles on her, 600 miles yesterday. 75mph most of the way loaded up with 2 onboard by the time I got to my destination I had 30.1 mpg's showing. Comming from an 05 STS V8, I'm quite impressed with the power to mileage ratio!

New here, but I have been averaging 26.1 but its only been a week. They filled with premeium at the dealer. They told me it runs on regular is that true?

Yes, it's true. Have you read your owner's manual?  Here's what it says:

Octane Recommendations

Regular unleaded gasoline with a pump (R+M)/2 octane rating of 87 is recommended. Some fuel stations offer fuels posted as regular with an octane rating below 87, particularly in high altitude areas. Fuels with octane levels below 87 are not recommended. Premium fuel will provide improved performance and is recommended for severe duty use such as trailer tow.

I bought a used 2013 MKZ EcoBoost AWD fully loaded on Monday with 10,000 miles, and have driven it about 300 miles. A lot of bells and whistles to learn about.

Getting 31 mpg mostly highway at about 65 mph. Only issue I have noticed so far, that I didn't notice at the dealer is the blackened exhaust tips, which seem to be stained black from soot. Anybody found a way to clean these and keep them clean?

Traded in a 2010 Milan, what a world of difference.

My 2016 MKZ is on order , should be delivered in early March. 2.0L Eco AWD Reserve pkg. I'm reading a lot of you are reporting poor fuel milage on low milage vehicles. I also have an Escape SE with a 1.6L Eco AWD. it also got poor fuel milage when new (22 combined ) until it got to around 5,000 miles on it then it leaned out and it jumped up to aprox 27 combined and close to 30-31 on highway runs. One thing I will advise you of is don't cheap out on tires ! My Escape is a lease so when the tires wore out I went cheap on the tires and fuel econ has droped back down to around 23.5-24 MPG. Definitely get a set of low rolling resistance tires to keep your MPG's up.
