How many Miles when delivered?

Recommended Posts

Pretty stoked -- I saw my new baby today which had just arrived  Thursday/Friday last week, so took a few pics tho not prepped yet but I did notice the mileage and was surprised to see 45 kilometers on it which is about 28 miles............Could that be normal having traveled from Mexico to here by rail and then by truck from Toronto to Brantford (about 80 miles - so not driven to here)

From experience purchasing other new cars it seems a little excessive tho I've never purchased one from so far away. Just wondering what mileage other MKZ owners have seen on their cars at delivery.

I think I know the dealership well enough that they would not allow test drives but can't be 100% sure.

I did see something I hadn't seen before and that was plastic disc-brake covers. (see pics)

The car was not covered in white plastic either just on a few small exposed areas around the front & rear bumper and parts of the fenders.

It's no biggie anyway -- I just wondered.

The car will be ready this week prob Thursday/Friday at which time I'll have some decent pics to post. Fer now this is all I got.

She a scruffy bird right now but I love her anyway. She'll get her detailing soon enough and just maybe Mother Nature will  help out some. Been crappy weather last few days.

Here's a cursory sample of the Z -- it was cold (20*) windy and snowy so please don't mind the lousy pics:

Looking good, Colin! That's way cleaner than mine was when it came in.

WRT the mileage, that's about what my 2014 had when I took delivery. I was told that MKZs were getting extended test drives at the factory to ensure quality. That amount was added to the allowable mileage in the lease agreement. I don't remember what the 2017 had. I'm out of town right now but I'll check when I get home on Monday. They'd never use it for test drives without a prep. Besides it still has the plastic rotor covers. It couldn't be driven like that.

You're almost there! I like those wheels a lot. They can keep those hats on the brakes though (just kidding).

I ordered a Focus back in 2012 and it was delivered to me with about 50 miles. There was a sticker in the car explaining how it was randomly selected for additional quality control testing. I think you are fine and it is a good thing as it shows Lincoln is working hard to ensure happy customers without problems when cars are delivered.

Thanks guys... that's even more reassuring. Makes sense about the extended test drives too -- good to know. LOL about the brake covers Dr.....quite right.. :)

I am surprised that these cars have such little plastic covering for the long rail trip. Rail dust is supposed to be very corrosive. Perhaps new paint is that much better. I'll be claybaring mine anyway as part of detailing.

LOL Airflow, I'd not seen those "hats" b4 -- remind me of the dust shields I installed way back when.

Haven't had a new car since the 2011 SHO arrived.

Kudos to Lincoln for looking after us --  tho the remote start wasn't working yesterday and had no time to check settings and turn it on. (I suspect that it's turned off for transit.)

The wheels are the best of the bunch IMHO -- optional and worth the extra. The standard wheels looked horrendous to keep clean too.

Going back tomorrow for a closer look and to do some paperwork.  Glad to have the online owner's manual to swat up on for the last while. At least have a cursory understanding of features and have already registered for MY Ford/Lincoln Way -- has anyone used FordPass with any success? Heard there were problems. Not tried it yet.

Oh yeah -- don't forget the clocks today -- or you'll be an hour early for church today and work tomorrow. ciao

Congratulations on finally getting your MKZ to come in colin! Mine came with 31 miles on it. All MKZs go through the Validation Center which involves extra assessments and test drive, though not 100% perfect (they're still on production line time crunch and so may miss fine details), it helps reduce any bad lemons that might escape the factory. Unlike the Fusions, the MKZs at Hermosillo do get extra attention to try and reduce any possible dissatisfaction or issues for customers. Hence why Fusions come with single digits brand new and untouched, but MKZs often have double. Technically the engine already has a couple hundred miles worked in, as Ford/Lincoln does pre-engine break in on all their vehicles (that is why the owner's manual only refers to tires for break in). Though variety of driving is still necessary for all the vehicle components to break in good harmony.

Lincoln wants and needs to make a good first impression and cares more than Ford vehicle variants. If future problems do arise, Lincoln will do more to make things right to fix what may go wrong with the vehicle.

Check the window moldings, exhaust housings, engine bay moldings, etc..Electronic bugs are harder to catch until they act up and require constant ownership, so just ensure the dealership will assist you with any of those concerns should they come. A good one is listen for the door chimes, might sound like they're coming from the dash board sometimes and if so, you'll need the ACM fixed. The ACM will be excessively draining the battery and harder to recharge, and being in your cold climate, you don't want that!

Other than that, the car should hopefully be swell and raring to serve you well. I will say Ford/Lincoln's paints are pretty dang tough (but expensive as well, especially the metallics), as I honestly haven't detailed and waxed my Fusion in forever beyond basics...its got small paint swirls but people still compliment it looking great (makes me chuckle really).

Here's a little fun Hermosillo factory video, older models but gives you an idea.

Thanks Zalvern should be in my hands by mid week for me to play with.

Cool videos for sure......."Validation Center" -- now that's special attention......and also explains the initial mileage on delivery. tnx for posting. I never thought to google the Hermosillo plant -- usually I'm the first to google .... something is distracting me lately I guess.....      :headspin:  :ford:

Going to see her again tomorrow at which time I'll turn on the remote start and check window moldings, exhaust housings, engine bay moldings, and check for any quirky electronics. etc.

Pity about the weather this week but at least I have a spot in the garage for my new baby.

Cheers every1 -- more pics to come

I believe mind had somewhere in the high 20s of miles as well... Congrats on the car! I'm a couple months in and still loving mine...

Thanks Newlinux, I'll wager that it still gets the heart racing every time you get into it.

You've got the Black Label that's not available up here yet -- which I would have gotten if available. Really wanted the Driver's Package. Next time for me -- in the meantime I'll enjoy this baby I'm sure.

Send some warmer weather our way would ya ..

Cheers
