Myron D. Brown
Does anyone else have problems scanning for updates to Sync 3? My car is parked in the garage every night and connected to my home WiFi network. But it says it hasn't checked for updates since January 21, 2017. Frequently, I do a manual search, but it always hangs...the little icon keeps spinning and it never finishes scanning. Anyone else have this problem? I'm sure my version of Sync 3 (version 2) is probably the latest. But I fear when some new bugs are fixed or new features added, my car won't be able to scan and find them. Any suggestions? IraF
Here's what I did to check for updates for sync3. Had to buy an extender for WiFi, in the house the connection was excellent , on the driveway poor to fair. Connected extender via the instructions as given for Netgear Model EX6100, connections and password same as getting Netflix on your TV if you have Netflix, and once you do this you will not have to do it again. Connected extender to outlet in kitchen and checked my laptop and saw 4 lights on Netgear and laptop showed connected and secured to Netgear. Went to general settings in car and found scan for automatic updates and scanned. Showed last scan for updates 03/11/2017 @11:09AM (can't remember exact wording, but I assume no updates were found as of this date. Although {https://owner.lincoln.com/tools/account/sign-in.html?logout=true}showed last update confirmed on February 11, 2017. Hope this helps. Myron D. Brown
But I doubt it's a signal issue, my signal is strong in the garage, driveway, and yard...my WiFi router is in the room next to the garage. I can get signal from neighbors' houses. I also have my car connected to WiFi at work and other places I frequently. Still no updates. IraF
Perhaps there are no updates at this time, but it should show last time checked for update was and in my car indicates 03/11/2017@11:09AM.
Zalvern
I connect mine via phone 4G Hotspot with my mobile network and able to manually check quickly as a result. The latest official version for Sync 3 is 2.0 for 2017+ Ford and Lincoln vehicles. There is an "unofficial" v2.2 out there but that is ONLY for the 2016 Ford and Lincoln vehicles and unlocks Android Auto/Apple Car Play for the pre-Sync 3 owners. Myron D. Brown
Ira mine shows the last time it even checked was 1/21/2017. Every manual check never completes. Zalvern I've tried turning on my mobile hotspot before a drive and checking for updates. Thirty minutes and nothing. The circle just kept spinning. But I do have the latest official: v2.0 Off-subject: I hope the next major update allows you to respond to text messages with text-to-speech. Sync 3 has voice recognition, so I don't see why they didn't include that feature. When I take a trip where I know talkative folks will be messaging me a lot, I just use the Android Auto interface. Myron D. Brown
Whatever the issue was, a master reset fixed it. RAB
colinsz
After doing a 'Master Reset' to get a sync update, Lincoln Way (on cell) says I have to wait 24hrs for reauthorizing to reconnect to sync. Is that so or will it reauthorize automatically? tnx. Edited March 29, 2017 by colinsz

If you do a reset on SYNC or your mobile device, a new PIN must be authorized and usually takes 24 hours. This process will not happen automatically. colinsz
colinsz
Whatever the issue was, a master reset fixed it. What is the latest version of sync? I have 2.2 in mine and it seems to be the latest as far as I can see. On Lincoln Way it says that the last time an update was confirmed was Feb. 9 which was the last day of its birth. I'm waiting to be "re-authorized" to scan for updates myself. Up until now my system never completed an update search. I can now do a vehicle start/lock/unlock/, have fuel level and percentage, also do a locate, but no tire pressure "monitoring" or e/oil status. Looks like I'm part way thru being reauthorized. IraF
I believe that I replied earlier to this topic, in any case, I checked on my MKZ 2017 Reserve Hybrid on 3/30/2017, on the screen in the vehicle it showed last update checked on 3/30/2017 and I went into my account and saw the same thing and it seems when this car was built on 12/2016 it show the last update on sync 3, looks like no NEW UPDATES are available YET. BTW, I did a Master Reset and nothing changed, except reset radio stations and relink blutooth phone Edited March 31, 2017 by IraF colinsz
colinsz
Thanks Ira -- my last confirmed update was Feb 9th, and the last confirmed check was March 15........I"ve checked more times but never seem to get an answer -- it never finishes 'checking'.......I suppose it could be a reception/WiFi issue tho I do check while driving. A Lincoln Concierge suggests that the info in MyLincoln/Lincoln Owner/LincolnWay is the most up-to-date and says I have it : V2.2 Finding that website's videos very helpful with my 'travels' around my new MKZ -- much more interesting and quick than the boring owner's manual. I"m now back to where I was b4 my Master Reset which seemed to change nothing for me. I expect I'll see something about checking and a newer version on the cars info screen eventually. pjrocco
SYNC3 2.0 is the current stable release. V2.2 is being released, but is not yet available on all platforms. It is not uncommon for Ford/Lincoln to push updates out in waves by geographical location. I'm still on v2.0 and according to the Z, I'm up to date. Since my Z was built back in July, it came loaded with 2.0. Yours was build 7 months later, so you got v2.2 right out the box. colinsz
