SYNC update to Nav question

There's no "nav module" per se.  It's just a software change but it's not available to the public or dealers.  From a Ford engineer:

There is no option.  The navigation is tied to your VIN number, not to the hardware in your car.  You need the "magic secret unlocker" that is not available to the public.

Not being facetious at all, there really is an unlocking software that will allow any MFT vehicle to have navigation added, no hardware required (other than the SD card).  But as noted, it is not available to the public.

In order to enable navigation you need to reprogram your APIM (accessories protocol interface module). There is a company that will sell you a new one, and you send in your old one. I did this last year, and it works perfectly.

You'll be very happy with the results.

i recently found some used navigation units on Ebay for under $200.. These would be a direct swap correct?  All we need is a map card..  As long as the base models have the multiple harness connection on the back it should swap over i would think.. Cheaper than $799.

Adding Nav to 13 - 15 can be done with a $30 FORSCAN adapter (Plus the cost of a maps SD card):

He links the main thread over at 2Gfusions:

Many people with all different types of ford models have done this for the 13 through the 15's.  Requires reading through a lot of posts but it is not hard

thanks for the links..  Do you know how i go about downloading Forscan onto my Mac?  I went on the website and all i saw was iphone and ipad?   appreciate it..

So the Fusion, MKZ, and others have the same layout with codes in the APIM?

I don't think they have a Forscan version for Mac.

They don't share identical codes, but it is very minor differences.  Those model years do share the same 8" sync 2.0 system and also many IPC elements.

I would recommend reading Dan's guide and then read it again, then read/skim through that thread.
