You do have to clean and oil once a year and may get a slight increase in HP and MPG. They are rated for 100,000 miles ,paid 45.00 shipped on ebay and cleaner and oil kit for 15.00 shipped. I've used them without issue for years (I'm careful on the oil, and let it dry overnight before starting the motor). But, I've heard of so many issues lately, I'm spooked a little. A buddy just had a MAF fail on a Buick SUV. He was running a K&N for just under a year (it was oiled from the factory). I've heard of other similar issues. I don't know if that is necessarily an issue with the K&N or modern MAF's. From what I've read about the Green filters, they are a bit more durable due to the material used. The only concern I have (and it is a big one) is that the Summit page said the filter must be cleaned every 3,000-5,000 miles. That's less than two months of driving for me. However the Green homepage recommends the filter be cleaned at every oil change, or 30,000 miles. I used to clean my K&N' filters every 50k (at 10k oil change intervals). I might give one a try. I am going to clean once a year ( 10-12,000 miles). Another thing was that they state that their oil for the filter is the only oil that should be used because of it's swelling properties . I am contacting Streetside Auto and Green filter companies,but as it is the weekend,no answer so far. Green filter site says that this model will fit both engines. The filter 7287 will not work because my car is a hybrid , it will work for all other MKZ engines. So there mystery solved. The only other cleanable filter for my car is the K&N and I was not as comfortable with it as I was with the Green. I have the Green on my older Honda and it runs like new at 125,000 miles. (349k on an Accord, 399k on an Altima, 150k on a Silverado and I also have a K&N in my MGB). I'll take some pix of the Green and factory filter. I had remembered reading that the filter was pre-oiled, but it did not state this anywhere on the package or instructions. They did sent a 10% off coupon code if the one above doesn't work (PM me for it, it's in the garage!) The filter isn't as deep as the factory filter, which is a rather nice piece and the build explains the cost. It fit perfectly and I'll see what happens. I drive close to 50k annually, so replacing the factory filters at the proper interval would be a lot more costly than installing a cleanable filter.
