Myron D. Brown
I'm confused... I have a 2017 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid Black Label--Thoroughbred theme. Something that has confused me since I bought the car is why mine doesn't have the Alcantara (suede) headliner. I have suede in other parts of the car--certain trim pieces, floormats, sun visors, etc. But when it comes to the headliner, I only have suede on the pillars--then it stops. The headliner is a "plain" black cloth fabric, like on non Black Label MKZs. It's the only Black Label Lincoln I've ever seen without a full suede headliner. And I have seen Black Label MKZs, MKCs, MKXs, and Continentals of various years. I stopped by one dealer for a carwash, and he, too, found it strange--so told me to contact Lincoln Concierge, as it might be a mistake. So concierge connected me back to my original sales person, sales manager, service manager, and my window sticker. My sticker says "Alcantara Headliner." Then we walked across the lot to another vehicle which was nearly IDENTICAL to mine inside and out--the only difference was mine is a hybrid. Now this vehicle had a complete suede headliner. Its window sticker reads "Alcantara Wrapped Headliner." The service manager said "Alcantara Headliner" and "Alcantara Wrapped Headliner" must mean two different things. But ever since Lincoln began the Black Label program, that was one of the features...that all Black Label trim vehicles would include upgraded, higher quality leather, higher quality woods, and full suede headliners. So I'm confused... I was traveling this weekend and stopped by another Lincoln dealer for a free wash. A salesperson there told me that sometimes companies make production changes in the middle of a cycle, and this could be the case. I did order my car the very first week that the order banks became available (that first full week of April 2016). So now, I'm feeling like I got shortchanged. It might seem like a small detail--but if you've been in an MKZ with a cloth headliner and then sit inside one with a full suede headliner, there's a world of difference. It does a whole lot more to make the car feel more upscale/premium/luxurious. I want what the other Black Label customers are getting. So I'm about to call Lincoln Concierge again to have them investigate further--to see if there really is a difference between "Alcantara" and "Alcantara Wrapped" when it comes to headliners. Did they make a mistake in production at the factory? I want this suede headliner, either way--even if I have to pay extra. Anyone else drive a Black Label Lincoln that DOESN'T have a suede headliner? I'm curious to know if I'm alone with this problem. Thanks... drolds1
I'd read somewhere that they dropped the alcantara headliner on the 17 MKZ. Can't hurt to call, though.
Myron D. Brown
I'd read somewhere that they dropped the alcantara headliner on the 17 MKZ. Can't hurt to call, though. That doesn't make sense, because my selling dealer had several '17 MKZ Black Labels on the lot when I went a few days ago, and they all had Alcantara headliners. I assume maybe mine was built sooner, because my order was placed in April, with delivery in September. Those didn't show up on the lot until October/Novemberish. So maybe they added it later in production? But I'm definitely about to call and get some answers. I might get a quicker answer from a body shop. E.g. if one of those with a suede headliner was in an accident, what part number would they have to order to rebuild the car? And then find out...was I indeed supposed to have that part. We shall see...
