I have a Black Label with every single package except the V6 engine and AWD (I opted for the hybrid model, making those two options unavailable). The Black Label trim comes with the Luxury Package by default--all the other packages you listed were optional. I'm happy with the choice. It's like getting a fully-loaded MKZ with all the features that are available. Even if you don't use ALL the features ALL the time, it's good to know they're there when you need them. The comfort and convenience have been great. Adaptive cruise control, heated steering wheel, self-parking and the panoramic glass roof are features I use every single day. Not to mention the 20-speaker sound system. It's unbelievably quiet. The most noise I hear is when accelerating, but that is to be expected.

Thanks Myron. I've had hybrids for the last 9 years. I currently own a 2013 Fusion Hybrid Titanium, which I love. Maybe I should consider the hybrid, but I think I am ready for a change. I've put in my time being a good steward :)

I have a Black Label MKZ with all of those packages. For Me I wanted all of them. I like to have my sunroof open and the panoramic glass roof is amazingly large. But if you aren't into to sunroofs you can skip that one. The car is pretty quiet. There is noise accelerating but with the V6 it is a good noise. I would not have been interested in the car without the V6 or the AWD as I was looking for a car with good power but I didn't want torque steer. The city gas mileage might be a shocker to you coming from a hybrid. I look the stereo system and LED headlamps are great (Luxury package), and this is my first car with a heated steering wheel (climate package) and that has been great this winter!

I have the V6 AWD with all of the options except the tech package. I chose the V6 for the power and the AWD to help alleviate the torque steer. I am not a fan of front wheel drive cars and would not have purchased an MKZ if this option was not available. I love the PANO roof, it makes the car feel luxurious and modern. The climate and luxury packages are top notch. The tracking headlights are really cool, and dispute what some people on this forum will say, the Thx audio system is excellent, (I'm a certified professional audio guy). I decided to leave the tech package out because I'm not a fan of the warning tones. For the most part, they scare the hell out of me. It was a tough decision though because I do like the adaptive cruise control that I missed out on. That was a toss up, but I like to drive, so I left it out. Great car overall. I love it.

I got the tech package thinking I wouldn't even use the adaptive cruise control but now I use it pretty much all the time. It's so handy and clever. Also because if I don't use cruise control I will look down to find myself going 60 in a 40, because the ride is just some quiet and smooth.

The climate package was also a must have because the winters can get cold where I am, though not as bad as other places. I just don't like the cold, lol.

I have everything but the Panoramic roof, as I hardly even open the moon roof that comes standard on Black Label models. For me, it's all about performance and so the 3.0T Engine, AWD, and Driver's Package were all my most important choices. I enjoy having relentless power, and the ability to accelerate aggressively during turns with good precision. Along with a Livernois tune, this MKZ makes many vehicles look like chumps! Over 5000 miles tuned now, and it still runs smooth, warms up fast, and struggles very little during cold winter. It's only weakness is poor fuel quality, as you will know if the car is getting poor quality gas. It'll feel like the engine falls flat or the transmission gets sticky or laggy with shifting. I optimize tire quality with Pilot Super Sports for Summer and Blizzak LM001 for winter, and I feel very confident and safe with how this car handles its power. Even when going 80+ MPH, I find the vehicle quiet and stable.

 

Followed by that is the Luxury Package that is standard in Black Label models. Good headlights and an excellent sound system for the long trips I do, as I prefer driving at night and have thousands of music files to keep me occupied. People find the headlights pretty intimidating as I noticed many move out of my way as I steadily approach them.

 

Next is the Climate Package. I had a heated steering wheel, along with heated seats in my 2014 Ford Fusion Titanium. That is just something you don't give up once you treated yourself to such options. Now I get to enjoy the cooling seats as well. Plus it is one of the cheapest packages, and if this car is going to experience both summer and winter...its worth the addition. The car can get so warm I literally take off my jacket and everything even if its single digit temperatures outside.

 

Finally the technology package, with the biggest appreciation being adaptive cruise control. I use Lane Keeping when I am running cruise control just because its there, but it isn't something I consider mandatory. I still hardly use the Active Park Assist, as its just faster for me to park and the reserve camera and sensors are already big enough aids, so I only ended up with Active Park Assist because its required to have Adaptive Cruise Control. Luckily there is a simple button one can press to silence the parking aids. Turning off Traction Control also silences the sensors.

 

How important the 3.0T, AWD, and Driver's Package depends on how much one values having strong performance. None of these are necessary for the daily drive, but make it so much sweeter and enjoyable personally speaking. Anything less will now bore me to tears driving, so the power has me spoiled good.

 

Whereas the Climate, Luxury, Technology and Panoramic roof are all more about comfort...and likely to be more desired by the average buyer.

Thanks for all the responses. My Fusion has a lot of the packages available on the MKZ. I love the adaptive cruise control.. It just makes driving more relaxing. I'll never buy a car without this feature. The only drawback is when you are driving a car that doesn't have it, you have to remember you're not in your car. While I haven't used the parking feature much, I do love the warning beeps both in the front and back of car when approaching an object.

 

There are a couple of package's available on MKZ I did not list in my first post.

 

1. Multicontour front seats w/ Active Motion 

2. Driver's Package ( a little steep at $2,395)

 

I think I will stop by a dealer today for a test drive and to checkout the interiors and options etc.

I'm also in the early stages, my Fusion will be given to my niece when she gets her license later this year.  Finally gives me a reason to get into a new car.  I would be getting a 2018 by the time this happens, but this is exactly how I would order it today:

 

MKZ Reserve

Midnight Sapphire Blue

3.0 AWD

Drivers package

Luxury Package

Moonroof (possibly Panoramic Roof, I'll decide that later on)

Climate Package

 

I would like to get the Black Label, but MS Blue is not available in BL, and I'm not digging the BL wheels either (love the Drivers Package wheels on the non BL).  Hopefully that will change with the 2018 models, as I've read more color choices will be available with the BL trim.  Wheels are easy enough to swap though.

 

Now of course, the more I look at the Continental, the more I get tempted...

My  2016 has all the options mentioned except the Driver Package, the Technology Package and the V6. The Pano is really nice even when you don't have it open. The interior has very spacious and unique feel, especially for people riding in the back seat. It's one of the first thing people comment on once they get inside. If you live in a cold climate, I would absolutely get the Climate Package. I use the heated seats and steering wheel daily from about October to March. Same goes for AWD, highly recommended if you live in climate where ice/snow is typical. As for the Drivers Package and V6, I find the 2.0 combined with the AWD is fine for me, the car is very smooth, quiet and handles so much better then I even expected during daily driving and the Drivers Package just seems a bit overkill for the price IMO. If I had to cut anything from the option sheet to save some $$$, I would omit the multi-countour seats. I like them, but rarely really use them.

This exactly what I have minus the luxury package (did go with the 13 speaker revel system.... even the same color. If I had to do again I would definitely go for the luxury package over the mid level revel (the led headlights are a nice plus). 8 have the standard moonroof and for me it would be a coin flip on the pano..

I got the Capuccino and I'm enjoying it. My Fusion had a black interior, and while I loved the look, its hard to find stuff in the car. My wallet, cell phone, sun glasses, etc all blended in with the interior.

I was able to get the in on the 'Lincoln Date Night' experience with a white Platinum Reserve, 2.0 AWD, Climate Pkg, Multi Contour seats, Panoramic roof, and 14 speaker Revel system.  I had it from Friday morning until Monday afternoon, (Yup, three days), so plenty of time to see how it felt.  When I returned it yesterday, it's a good thing they had no MKZ inventory on hand that would entice me, otherwise who knows what would have happened... :2thumbs:

 

The 2.0 is a pretty decent engine, it did not feel slow at all and plenty of people would be satisfied with it.   But there is no question that I would get the 3.0 to satisfy my heavy foot.  Climate package is nice, but I hope those 'Rain Sensing Wipers' can be turned off, they bothered me changing speeds unnecessarily.  The rear heated seats and steering wheel I think are essential here in the Northeast US.  Multi Contour Seats are a simply an absolute must have, the massage was awesome!  The interior was the Terracotta/Ebony, and I am not really a fan, I'm sure some of you like it, but opinions obviously vary.  

 

Now the 14 speaker Revel system, in my opinion, is not good enough.  It does sound ok, and many people don't necessarily want or need a cranking system, but for sure I would get the Luxury Package.  The mid Revel is comparable to my stock 8 speaker Audiophile system in my 07 Fusion (2 subs in the rear deck).  My Fusion system might even sound a little better, or maybe it's because I'm accustomed to the sound of it.  Unfortunately, none of the MKZs on their lot had the 20 speaker system for me to hear, but I'll check it out when I can.  Now the Panoramic roof is also very nice, even with it closed and having a full glass roof is cool.  Still unsure if I think it's a 'Must Have' though.

I love that color combination you had for date night!  I too had weekend use of a car and it was a black on black Reserve model (yawn).

 

I'm about to pull the trigger on an MKZ and am reading this thread with interest. But my wife is giving me a lease budget so I'll be choosing a car with fewer options.  I'm leaning towards:

V6 FWD Select. Hope the torque steer doesn't bother me because I don't want to deal with higher capital cost and lower gas mileage. I've had front wheel drive cars forever and have never had a problem in the snow.  Only time I've ever experienced torque steer in the past was a few years ago in a rented Maxima, I stood on the gas to pass a slow moving truck on an uphill grade, and the torque steer practically ripped the wheel out of my hands.  I want the V6 for quiet and smoothness, and my occasional heavy right foot.

I am not getting the Select plus package. I just had the privilege of driving a new Continental for 10 hours that did not have navigation and I didn't miss it. For the times that I'd need navigation, I'd probably plug my iPhone in and use CarPlay, or use the Waze app directly from my phone.  Don't think I need the blind spot detection either.

I have not heard the 14 speaker Revel system but I want it anyway because I am not impressed with the base Ford/Lincoln stereo systems.  The basic Revel system, just has to be better than the base sound system, not quite ready to pony up for the $4,000 luxury package.

Beyond these I'm just looking at 19" rims (not essential) and the basic moonroof.

If I was actually buying the car and keeping it beyond three years, I would definitely want to choose more options.  I'm hoping with the next version of the MKZ that they adopt seats that are similar to the Continental's... they were amazing, even the base seats in the Select model that I drove.  With thigh extenders and 4 way lumbar those seats would be even better....
