jasongentry42
First post! Just purchased an MKZ for wife's commute to work. Beautiful car. I noticed an unconnected hose and could not find where to reconnect so in my research I see the wrong air cleaner tube is installed...part# AH6Z 9B659 A. What does this hose actually do? There are no codes, no stalls, no rough driving at all! Everything is smooth as butter. There has got to be a reason (even if it is mistake, I'll accept that) why the wrong part is on there and the hose is unconnected. It was drawing a vacuum so I put a 5/16" inline fuel filter to prevent any dirt/contaminants from entering the system. Question: should I keep it as is or order the new part and possibly change the vacuum and ultimately affect engine performance? Thanks. robertlane
I'd check with Lincoln on this one. Welcome to the site! Sorry that I could not help out. :(
4N1M4L
Thats the suction for the crank case ventilation. The concept has been around a long time. A little exhaust leaks past the pistons, and left there would turn the oil sludgy and acidic. There is a line run from the vaccum system to the crankcase, and then another run to between the air filter and intake. The cc vent used to have its own filter that most people thought was for adding oil through. Now modern cars make use of an already installed and maintained filter.
