Car and Driver Reviews 2017 Fusion Sport

I know this is the MKZ forum, however, C&D has tested the 2017 Fusion Sport and clocked it at 5.1 0-60 and 13.7 at 101 in the 1/4. The car weighed 4,128 as tested.

I REALLY REALLY want to see the same testing of the 3.0T AWD MKZ with 400hp. Would love to see 4.6 0-60 and 12.9 1/4. Thoughts?

I am going to make a stab and say it will com in at 4.9 0-60 and right around 13.2 - 13.3 @ 103/104 I had a mazdaspeed6 and it was clocked by C&D @ 5.4 and 14.0 @ 99mph. The Z is Much quicker although a bit softer @ launch manual v. Auto. (Speed is awd also, so comparable) The speed6 was 274/285 and 3600lbs.

Just a stab but I think it will be real close

I hope you guys are right.  My concern is the amount of torque management that seems to be at play.  On the cars that I drove, it felt like someone shut off the engine between the shifts.  Torque management is fine to make the shifts buttery smooth and to protect the drivetrain from damage but it can also impact acceleration times.  It is possible that the cars that I have driven would get much better when fully broken it.

When tuned by Livernois or other aftermarket tuners, the amount of torque management is reduced and the result is quicker and firmer shifts.   I think it would take that level of tuning to get the 3.0 MKZ or Continental to really shine.

Schteve, have you had any more recent discussions with Livernois about tuning for the 3.0?
