JoeBrown
This morning when I started my 2014 MKz the SYNC logo appeared on the display, with the message, performing Scheduled maintenance. Not the exact verbaige. It ran for a few minutes with a progress indicator. When it completed, the display went blank for a few seconds and then everything returned to normal. I don't notice any changes. Anyone else experience this?
hermans
That's SYNC speak for your system crashed and it rebooting. Very common occurrence. The time to worry is when it won't come back alive again. I imagine people would really freak if it said, your system has crashed and will now reboot....let us pray. JoeBrown
OK this is the first time for me. I'm glad you provided the answer.
drolds1
My son-in-law's Ford Edge did this once when we going to a funeral. The destination had been programmed in. We had to pull over and stop while it rebooted, then had to re-enter the destination since the reboot wiped it. Rather annoying, but this was the first year for MFT. hermans
It did it multiple times on my 2013 Fusion and has done it several times on the MKZh and the 2015 MKC. On the 2016 Edge I've had to reboot the sync3 three times so far.
JoeBrown
Wow! I guess I should consider myself "lucky".
hermans
That's only the real issues except for the navigation showing my car driving in a river instead of the road in my FFH and the map updates really were not updates at all. Other than that I had no issues. I do find the sync3 far easier to work. Edited September 18, 2016 by hermans
raforbes
I have the same issue with the Nav showing me on some other road or pasture. I called Lincoln and complained yesterday. I also called the folks that supply the maps and told them the are worthless. In today's world updates should be close to spot on and released monthly. For $150 you should get a year's worth of updates. I realize they are on a RO SD card but there could be a different form of delivery. I just left GM for Lincoln and GM software is much better. Onstar is outstanding - I just fell in love with the MKZ - Cadillac has nothing (in my opinion) as nice. I bought a used 2013 30K miles - cars a rocket ship.. Wish I'd have gotten a 2015 with the modem though - Anyway Ford got taken to the cleaners by M$.
